Halloween Spooky Spiderweb 7 Layer Dip

Ingredients

  • 1 15 oz can refried beans
  • 1 jar chunky salsa
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 cup guacamole
  • 1 cup grated cheddar or colby cheese
  • sliced olives for garnish
  • diced tomato for garnish
  • shredded lettuce or sliced green onions for garnish
  • several whole black olives for spiders
  • 1 bag tortilla chips

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl mix the refried beans with 1/4 cup salsa, chili powder, and cumin. Spread on bottom of a 10" pie pan or plate.

  2. Cover the bean layer with a layer of sour cream. Save about 1/4 cup for the spiderweb.

  3. Drain the salsa if it is watery. Cover the sour cream layer with a layer of salsa.

  4. Cover the salsa layer with a layer of guacamole. If not serving immediately you can prevent browning by brushing the guac with a light covering of lime juice using a pastry brush.

  5. Around the edge add the grated cheese, thinly sliced green onions and/or lettuce, sliced olives, and diced tomatoes.  Around the edge add the freshly grated cheese, thinly sliced green onions, sliced olives, and halved cherry tomatoes.

  6. Put 1/4 cup sour cream into a plastic bag and cut off the tip. Squeeze the sour cream into a spider web pattern over the guacamole.

  7. Make olive spiders -- half a few olives lengthwise and then cut a few olives into small strips. Position the olive halves where you want your spiders, then arrange the olive strips around the halved olive to look like a spider.

  8. Serve with tortilla chips.
