Trader Joe’s 2018 Chocolate Advent Calendar Review
Trader Joe’s 2018 Chocolate Advent Calendar
Since we have been trying to review a wide range of Advent calendars this season, Trader Joe’s 99 cent chocolate Advent calendar just has to be included in the mix! This is the lowest price we have found for a 24 piece chocolate Advent calendar so far. I don’t thing you could find one much less expensive. Trader Joe’s has a large display of their calendars with a variety of different box colors and illustrations but I think they all contain the same candies.
Each little box has a different chocolate candy shape when you peek inside. Initially you only see the flat backs of the candies but the detail is on the other side. The inside plastic holder is apparently the mold for the candies and they are not too easy to get out individually without damaging them. These chocolates are much smaller than the ones in the other chocolate Advent calendars we have reviewed, as you might expect from the price of the box.
The little milk chocolate pieces are quite cute once out of the plastic mold. They are made in Canada, each a solid chocolate with no filling, just a quick bite and a nibble for each one. All chocolate is good to me, but we all agreed that these candies are not nearly as chocolaty as the ones in the other calendars we have reviewed this year. Sarah described them as “candy that tastes chocolate flavored.”
The Trader Joe’s 2018 Chocolate Advent Calendar would be great for trying out an Advent calendar on a budget. I probably won’t purchase one again next year as I would prefer to spend my 99 cents toward a better quality chocolate bar – or some of Trader Joe’s to-die-for milk chocolate peanut butter cups. Although I don’t think I could eat just one a day for 24 days!
The calendar is super cute but I think I’d save my money for some to die for chocolate. 😉
I have never tied a TJs advent calendar. I am going to get one for the kids and love the chocolates are solid not hollow
