Simple Dog Waffles Recipe
We welcomed a new family member to our house this summer. Meet our new dog Waffles! He is a F1 Goldendoodle pup and is just as cute as can be. We are head-over-heels in love with this guy and wanted to do something special to celebrate his arrival into our lives.
I thought it would be fun to do a little play on words and make some dog waffles for our dog, Waffles! I found this ridiculously easy recipe on the Kenmore website and knew it would be perfect for our new little guy.
You can’t get much simpler than this recipe – plus – you can use any waffle maker you like! I prefer thinner, classic waffles so I decided to go with the Cuisinart WMR-CA waffle iron. Waffle irons are extremely affordable now and ridiculously simple to use. If you are looking to purchase one, you can get a great deal through https://wikibuy.com/ 🙂
This recipe uses only 4 ingredients: egg, banana, oats, and peanut butter
Mix all ingredients together in one bowl and the batter is now ready for the waffle iron!
Once your waffle iron is preheated, brush coconut oil on the top and bottom plates and then place large blobs of batter on each of the four sections. Close the lid all the way and follow your waffle iron’s cooking instructions. I toggled between setting #2 and #3 when making our dog waffles to get lighter and darker treats.
Waffles REALLY enjoyed eating his yummy dog treats as much as I loved making them! This recipe takes literally 15 minutes to make and uses ingredients I always have in the pantry. What a win!
Both dogs loved these waffles! Our old girl, Beijing, is coming around to loving our pup, Waffles, as much as we do… of course, food always helps and she has been getting MANY more treats since the puppy arrived and while he is being trained. 😉
Simple 4-Ingredient Dog Waffles
Ingredients:
- 1 cup oatmeal
- 1 banana, very ripe
- 1 egg
- 1/3 cup creamy peanut butter
- coconut oil to grease the waffle iron (optional)
Directions:
Heat waffle iron by turning it on and waiting for the light to turn green.
In a medium size bowl, mix all the ingredients together except the coconut oil. Use a fork to mash the banana and the other ingredients will bind in.
Once the waffle iron is heated, brush on a little bit of coconut oil to grease the plates. Scoop 2 Tbsp. of batter into the center of each section and close the lid to cook. Cook until golden brown. (I used setting 2-3 on my Cuisinart WMR-CA waffle iron)
Cut into small pieces to feed your pups. Enjoy!
Oh my goodness, Waffles is adorable. His cute picture just warms my heart!
I think my dog would love this recipe, will have to try it.
These look awesome and I will have to try making some for our dog Duke
How do you store these?
Love this! How long will these keep do you think?
Hi, Veronica! I usually keep them on the counter for a few days, but honestly my dogs don’t really let me keep them hanging around. lol If you make a large batch, you can always freeze them and set them out to thaw on the counter like you would with frozen bread! I hope this helps! Let us know if you try them!
My dog is allergic to peanuts. Might try without the peanut butter.
Can you substitute the banana with something else?
Hi, Loriene! I am not sure whether there is a true substitute that could be swapped with the banana in this recipe. It’s hard to find a dog-friendly ingredient that has the same consistency and texture of a banana! Is your dog allergic to bananas? My dogs go nuts for them!
I made them this morning for my 3 fur Babies! They love them! Thanks for sharing the recipe!
If your dog is allergic to peanuts try pumpkin my dogs love pumpkin.
Great suggestion, Joann! 🙂
