September 2016 Target Beauty Box Review
Target offers a popular, inexpensive beauty box every month that always sells out fast. The box is a one time purchase, not a monthly subscription box. It cost $7 with free shipping.
The Homespun Chics paid for this subscription box. All opinions are 100% our own. This post contains affiliate links.
The theme of the September 2016 Target Beauty Box is
fall Right In
Each Target Beauty Box has a product description card that gives information and useful tips for every item selected for the box. And attached to the product description card is a coupon for $3 off a $15 beauty purchase.
Maybelline – The Falsies Push Up Drama Mascara in Blackest Black, Full Size ($7.49)
This mascara has a push up cup brush with cup-shaped bristles that scoops and lifts lashes from the root for dramatic volume and lift. Ophthalmologist tested and contact lens safe.
OGX – Renewing Coconut Milk Shampoo sample size 2 oz ($.89)
This is a hydrating shampoo for all hair types. It is made of nourishing coconut milk , ultra whipped egg white proteins for strength and elasticity, and weightless coconut oils for hydration and balance, so it smells like a Pina Colada!
Biore – Baking Soda Pore Cleanser sample size 1 oz ($.85)
This is a pH balanced everyday liquid cleanser for combination skins. It deep cleans and exfoliates dirt and oil from your pores. I don’t know if I have combination skin or not, but it did leave my face feeling clean, soft and smooth. I think if you have really dry skin this might dry it out too much.
Eden BodyWorks – JojOba Deep Conditioner sample size 1.75 oz ($.85)
This is a deep conditioner for your hair, made with coconut, jojoba and monoi (plus lots of other stuff!) to strengthen and restore the natural beauty of over processed, damaged, or just plain dry hair. Not one of your condition-in-the-shower products, this is one that you leave on for 15-30 minutes before rinsing it off. The package also says that using it with heat results in a deeper conditioning.
Laneige – Water Bank Moisture Cream sample size .6 oz ($12.80)
This is a rich, luxurious moisture cream made with hydro ionized mineral water and plants (squalane & glasswort) – I’ve never heard of either – that comforts dry, irritated skin, plus strengthens and prolongs the skin’s moisture for 24 hours. Having received this in another box a month or so ago, I have been using it daily for at least 6 weeks and have to say that I do really like it but can’t vouch for the 24 hour claim. That is awfully dependent on the humidity for the day. But I can say that is a thick moisture cream that makes me want to say “Ahhh” when I apply it to my clean face!
Rimmel – The Only 1 Lipstick in Naughty Nude Full Size ($6.99)
This is a long lasting all-in-one lipstick with high impact color & moisture. The color is Naughty Nude, which sound neutral but is rather mauve-ish upon application. It applies easily and makes my lips feel soft.
S.W. Basics – Organic Lip Balm in Cocoa Full Size ($4)
This is a certified organic lip balm that soaks in without leaving your lips feeling sticky or waxy. It is made with organic cocoa butter, coconut oil & beeswax. Mine was cocoa, but it also comes in citrus, cinnamon, & peppermint.
The retail value of the items in the October 2016 Target Beauty Box came to roughly $33.87, so for the $7 cost of the box, it is a great value for your money. It contained 3 full size items and 4 sample size ones. The cost of the mascara alone would have paid for the whole box! I think they did a great job of curating so that there is something for almost anyone included, not too heavy on the cosmetics or on the skin/hair care.
