Sam’s Club 2019 Godiva Chocolate Advent Calendar

Sam’s Club had a couple of Advent calendars this year and my choice was the Sam’s Club 2019 Godiva Chocolate Advent Calendar, since the other choice was a dog treat calendar. Not that I begrudge my pup his treats, but we had already planned to purchase the dog treat calendar elsewhere. This calendar cost $14.99 and came in different colors but otherwise all were the same.

“Count down the holiday season with our Advent Calendar filled with decadent chocolates” was on the side of the box and the back of the box followed up with, ” Add some holiday cheer and savor the ritual of opening a delicious Godiva Chocolate each day. The Godiva Advent Calendar offers a special and sweet way to count down the season with a festive and fun holiday ritual.”

The front of the box has a snowy Christmas tree and stars theme. There are 24 little boxes to punch out, but these are lined up in perfect numerical order across and down the box. One of the fun things about finding your daily treat in an Advent calendar is actually locating that day’s little box. Not a problem with this calendar and we found it rather dull and totally lacking in creativity.

When we opened the calendar up to see what goodies were inside, we found that the chocolates in this Sam’s Club 2019 Godiva Chocolate Advent Calendar were ALL THE SAME!

Each piece of candy was individually wrapped and each piece was identical. The candies were not pure chocolates, either. Each was a chocolate square filled with a liquid caramel. Very tasty of course – they are from Godiva, after all! But no where on the box is it stated that the calendar was filled with 24 of the same pieces of candy or that the candies were not pure Godiva chocolate.

The cost of the candies in this Advent calendar came to 63 cents each, not a bad price for Godiva chocolate candies. Still, the Sam’s Club 2019 Godiva Chocolate Advent Calendar left a lot to be desired. The candy was very good but not what I expected. And the calendar as a whole was just plain boring. With all the choices in pretty, yummy, and fun chocolate Advent calendars out there online and in just about every food store, this calendar just doesn’t make the grade and is off the “buy” list for next year!
