April 2016 Theme: Â Wet & Wild!
This month’s letter is from Pita the Puddle Finder, who is basically telling Beeba that getting wet and dirty is A-OK and that April is a month to have fun in the rain!
Pet Treater lovingly donates a bed, blanket, or toy to a local shelter dog or cat with every purchase of a box. I love, love, LOVE this!
Oh this is cool! Pet Treater has a fun promotion where you can submit a pic of your pooch via email for a chance to be the Pet of the Month! The winner will get a free item in their next box!
This is also new! Pet Treater now features an animal rescue each month. I am already so honored to be supporting a company that gives back by donating supplies to animal rescues in need. Pet Treater now shares details on where the donations are going and gives subscribers an opportunity to contribute directly! I have a huge soft spot for shelter animals, having helped mom foster hundreds of cats and dogs growing up. I LOVE this inclusion in the box and think it’s a wonderful idea to spotlight different rescues each month.
Yaky Puff Dog Treats (2 oz) | $4.49
These are the wildest things I’ve ever seen! These are traditional Himalayan treats that are very crunchy and lightweight. The ingredients are super simple:  yak and cow milk, salt, and lime juice. Yaky Puffs are made in the USA by Himalayan Dog Chew company. I did not find an expiration date on the package but saw on the website that an approximate date of expiration was 4 years from the date it was opened, so long as you store the treats in a dry area. Cool!
Here is one of the smaller pieces right out of the package.
Beijing was anxiously awaiting the treat! I tried to grab a pic of her catching and/or eating the treat, but she was too fast! Every time we gave her one, she would run away and take it into her crate to eat it in private. She LOVES these Yaky Puffs! So strange, yet so awesome.
Nature’s Recipe Oven Baked Biscuits (Lamb Flavor) | BONUS BAG
This huge bag of treats came as a “Bonus Bag” from Pet Treater. Unfortunately the “Best By” date is 4/22/2016, so we will not be feeding these to Beijing. I do think it is a great idea to clear out inventory by adding bonus treats to boxes when the expiration dates are coming near, but I would have much preferred to receive these treats in March to give us an opportunity to use them before they expired. (This is a huge bag.)
Wetnoz Quax Dog Toy | $14.03
This is such a CUUUUTE little silicone chew toy! It is perfect for moderate to rough chewers, under supervision. It is soft to the touch and extremely durable. Beijing prefers completely annihilating plush toys and will not touch one of these guys. I am looking forward to letting mom’s border collies give this a whirl.
Bacon Flavored Dog Food Spray (2 oz) | $8.95
This spray is all natural, made in the USA, and contains: soybean oil, canola oil, olive oil, flax seed oil, chia seed oil, and bacon flavor.
I have to admit I am hesitant to let Beijing try this one out. Not because I think it’s bad or bad for her… but because I’m afraid she won’t want to eat her food without a spritz! I’m trying to decide whether I will hold onto it to give Beeba as a little reward here and there, or if I should give it to mom for her dogs. Rocket (her younger border collie) is allergic to chicken so this may be the perfect treat for her boys.
This is pretty swanky! FlavoredSpray.com is offering Pet Treater subscribers 25% off their next purchase! Woohoo! I love when you can try a product out, find you love it, AND get a refill at a discount. Sometimes subscription boxes just rock.
No Boundaries Knee High Socks | $2.00?
Why helloooooo crazy socks! Man, these babies are BRIGHT neon knee highs!! These bad boys fit shoe sizes 4-10 and are machine washable. So yeah, I just turned 30 and was thinking I needed to tone down my wardrobe… but maybe this is a sign. I’m thinking I’m going to wear these around the house mostly, but then save the leopard print ones for future job interviews. What do you think? 🙂
Wags & Wiggles Massaging Bath Mitt | $6.99
Oh my goodness, thank you Pet Treater! We recently had to say goodbye to Beeba’s old scrubby silicone gripper bath comb thing. (What are they called?) It got so nasty. Anyway, I have been giving her a bath just using my hands and it has been a struggle to clean away all the excess fur. We really needed to get something to replace the comb thing but keep forgetting when we run to the store. (Bad mom!) This is PERFECT and I am sure both Beeba and I will be joyfully happy when we use it! This is a HUGE WIN for us!
Pet Head Knee Saver Cushioned Kneeler | $10.97
I don’t know how many times I have thought about getting one of these kneeling pads, but not for Beeba. I tend to sit on the edge of the tub, feet in, to wash my sweet pooch, however IÂ do kneel when giving Little G a bath in the tub! This is perfect for toddler bath time and I’m positive Little G will get a kick out of it too! Awesome score!
Sentry Petrodex Dental Spray (4 oz) | $8.95
This spray is meant to clean teeth and gums by reducing plaque and tartar. To use, you lift the upper lip to expose teeth and gums then spray it liberally on each side of the mouth. The active ingredient is Chlorhexidine Gluconate (huh?) and is safe to ingest. This bottle expires on 06/2016, so we decided to go ahead and give it a shot. Beeba was completely bewildered during this process. She just kept looking at me like I was insane and eventually jumped off the couch, offended, and ran into the other room. We shall see if this dental spray can help with bad breath; after all, Beeba is half-basset hound so the challenge is real.
I think it’s simply adorable that they have a picture of a cat on the bottle. I’ll keep my hands and arms intact, thank you very much.
Plush Puppies Jumbo Crab Dog Toy | $15.47
Holy crab! This is a goliath of a dog toy, taking up half the box this month. It makes all sorts of funny noises that Beeba went crazy over. She just had to have it, so I gave it to her.
….five minutes later…
Yup. First, seriously look at how huge that dog toy is/was! It took her about three days of de-stuffing to get all the honker-squeaker things out plus most of the stuffing. This was an excellent plushy for Beijing and I am so glad she gets to destroy one every month. It definitely saves me TONS of $$ by not buying them at the store. Seriously, it’s painful watching her rip apart a $5-10 toy just minutes after bringing it home. Pet Treater rocks Beeba’s socks off… if she had socks. Which would be super cute.
Our Thoughts
Pet Treater April 2016 Total Value: Â $71.85
As always, the value of this box FAR outweighs the cost of $24.99. (To a point where it’s almost silly.) I think the box contents stuck to the month’s theme of “Wet & Wild!” and am really glad to receive the massaging mitt and kneeling pad. Beijing’s favorite item was obviously the jumbo crab plushy. This month we received items that we haven’t tried before, like the dental spray, yaki puffs and flavor spray, that are really fun to test and maybe realize we can’t live without them!
The April box was a huge win for us and we are SO looking forward to next month!!

May’s Theme: Â Doggy De Mayo!
What a great pet box! I think the most useful thing in our home would be the Pet Head Knee Saver Cushioned Kneeler. I could really use one when I brush out our dogs.
Great box of stuff for dogs. Love the crab.
