October 2016 My Texas Market Box Review
My Texas Market is a monthly subscription box that sends you 4-6 carefully selected products from Texas farmers’ markets and local businesses. The small-batch artisan items fit a monthly theme and could be anything from foods, snacks, teas, candles, beauty products, crafts or any other thing you might find in a Texas farmers’ market. Their purpose is to expose customers to new products and companies while supporting local artisan businesses. Subscription costs are:
1 month – $35
3 months – $100
6 months – $195
Subscription prices do not include shipping or any applicable taxes. They do promise that the value of each box will be at least $35 -$40 but to not expect that they will send a hugely underpriced box of items. You can cancel at any time or just skip a month if you wish. And if you want to purchase more of something or add to your box, they have an online market with lots of things to choose from. And 10% of all profits are donated to the Houston Food Bank!

The theme of the October 2016 My Texas Market box is Pumpkin Spice and Everything Nice
“We have so many fall goodies to share with you, that we’re delivering TWO different months full of autumn-themed bliss…Get into the season with savory pumpkin, yummy apple, and more. Enjoy!”
The November 2016 My Texas Market subscription box was loaded with full size goodies that were perfect for the fall season! Everything was well packed and, even though 3 of the products were in glass containers, there was no breakage. The product information card included helpful information on each product and introduced me to the Texas companies that produced them. We visited Austin in September and once again I fell in love with that vibrant city – and two of the 5 items in the box were made right there in Austin!
From Scratch Farm – Pumpkin Spice Brown Sugar Scrub 8 oz ($11)
This delicious sugar scrub was in the November 2015 box. I loved it last year and can’t wait to start using it again this year! It is made from brown sugar, olive oil, honey, vanilla, cinnamon, ginger, cloves, and Pumpkin Spice fragrance oil. Sounds like you could eat it and you probably could, but it works excellently as a body or foot scrub. From Scratch Farm is a home-based business that focuses on simple ingredients and green business practices!
Confituras – Bourbon Caramel Apple Jam 6 oz ($12.95)
This is a jam made from Texas apples blended with caramel, Texas bourbon whiskey, Texas lemons, Mexican vanilla and kosher salt. The result is a delicious jam that is everything the name promises! Our tasting session ended up with us eating about half of the jar at once! Confituras is an Austin company founded in 2013 and has won many local awards. We visited their booth at the Farmer’s Market while we were in Austin in September and purchased a jar of blueberry basil preserves that was To Die For! Truly!!
Spaulding’s Specialty Spices – Holiday Spice Sugar 4.4 oz ($6.50)
This is a versatile sugar/spice blend that is perfect for the Holidays! You can put it on baked goods or stir it into your coffee or tea. It is small-batch made and the ingredients are organic evaporated cane juice sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, fenugreek, cloves and lemon peel.
SRSLY Chocolate – Pumpkin Spice Chocolate Bar 2 oz ($7.00)
This is a divine 70% dark chocolate bar with organic cinnamon, organic ginger, organic nutmeg, and organic cloves added to make the pumpkin spice flavoring. Another Austin-based company who uses ethically traded cacao beans and roasts, grinds and molds each bar by hand. “A rich and fragrant chocolate that invites you to celebrate the season.” MINE!
Tradition Scents – Starbucks Wax Melts 3 oz ($6.47)
This is a break-apart brick of wax melts in a sweet Starbucks coffee scent. It is small-batch made & hand-crafted on a little farm in Willis, TX using natural, organic soy wax. “This sweet coffee scent starts with a nice strong bold coffee and then it is infused with vanilla, caramel and brown sugar.” Sarah has a wax melts warmer so I will send them to her and then visit so I can smell the delicious aroma!
The retail value of the items curated for the October 2016 My Texas Market subscription box came to $43.92, right in line with what they promise. Each of the 5 products fit perfectly with the box theme. There was not a single thing in there that I did not just love – this box was a perfect fit for us! And there will be more fall season-related products next month, so stand by!! Or order a box for yourself!!
