October 2016 Beauty Box 5 Review
Beauty Box 5 is a monthly beauty subscription box that sends you 5 beauty samples – and often full-size products – each month for the basic price of $12. If you like what you are receiving you can commit to a subscription of $30/quarterly or $99/yearly ($8.25/box). Shipping is free within the USA. If you look around online you can often find coupon codes to decrease the price even more.
“We share products that really work, so you’ll receive luxury, drugstore, niche, eco-conscious, and even vegan brands.”
The Homespun Chics paid for this subscription box. All opinions are 100% our own.
The theme of the October 2016 Beauty Box 5 was
Girl Boss
The product information card for this month gave photos, details and prices for each of the 5 beauty products included in the box. The little pink heart next to 4 of the 5 let me know that those items were full size! Let’s see what was in the October 2016 Beauty Box 5.
Real Her – Moisturizing Lipstick in I Define Beauty Myself Full Size ($15)
This is a highly pigmented lipstick with very modern, boxy tube. My color was a light mauve, great for every day.
Amlactin – Ultra Hydrating Body Cream 1 oz sample size ($2.50)
This body cream has triple action alpha-hydroxy therapy to heal severe dry areas. It smooths, repairs and softens. Plus it is fragrance-free and a long-time, well known skin cream with proven results.
Emery + Ivory – Custom Nail Appliques Full Size ($12.99)
This is a set of 16 nail appliques for people who have nails. The package includes a stick an a file. I’m sure I can find a home for these!
Chella – Ivory Lace Highlighter Pencil Full Size ($18)
This is a highlighter pencil that is good for all skin tones. It can be used to eliminate dark circles under the eyes and cover age spots. Plus it lifts and lightens the appearance of the eyebrow. I have one of these already and I use it every day – one of my favorite beauty items!
Color Me – Femme Red sample size
This is a new fragrance from Color Me. I received “Red” and it is described as spicy. I think it is a bit too strong and dramatic for a daytime fragrance. “Old Lady Perfume” comes to mind, but scents are really personal in their evaluation! The other option for subscribers was “Gold,” described as fruity. That might have been a better fit for me.
The retail value of the beauty items curated for the October 2016 Beauty Box 5 came to $48.49. Not bad for a little $12 sample box! Three of the 5 items turned out to be full size. I won’t use the fragrance sample or the nail appliques but the other items were a good fit.
Did you get an October 2016 Beauty Box 5? What did you think?
I like the fact several things were full-sized. Sometimes you need more than just a small sample to see if you will like something
What a great little box!! I adore that lip color!!
This would be fun to receive this in the mail instead of just bills! I have a hard time committing to beauty purchases, but this would be an easy way to try before I drop a lot of money.
