November 2016 My Texas Market Box Review
My Texas Market is a monthly subscription box that sends you 4-6 carefully selected products from Texas farmers’ markets and local businesses. The small-batch artisan items fit a monthly theme and could be anything from foods, snacks, teas, candles, beauty products, crafts or any other thing you might find in a Texas farmers’ market.
Their purpose is to expose customers to new products and companies while supporting local artisan businesses. Subscription costs are:
1 month – $35
3 months – $100
6 months – $195
Subscription prices do not include shipping or any applicable taxes. They do promise that the value of each box will be at least $35 -$40 but to not expect that they will send a hugely underpriced box of items. You can cancel at any time or just skip a month if you wish. And if you want to purchase more of something or add to your box, they have an online market with lots of things to choose from. And 10% of all profits are donated to the Houston Food Bank!
The Homespun Chics received this box for review purposes. All opinions are 100% our own.
Unboxing – everything was well wrapped and padded. No breakage and, as always, a fun surprise to see what’s in the box!
The theme of the November 2016 My Texas Market box is A Day of Thanksgiving.
“As the days get shorter and the weather gets cooler, we hope you will enjoy this time of family, fun, and feasting.”
My Texas Market always includes their great product information card. They not only provide helpful information on each product but you can learn about the local Texas companies that produce each one.
Garden Dreams Houston – Cranopeno Jelly ($6)
Made with cranberries, jalapenos, organic sugar, apple cider vinegar and pectin – nothing artificial and especially NO high fructose corn syrup. When you put together jellies and jams from locally grown, chemical free ingredients made in small batches, the end result is delicious! We had this jelly last year poured over a bar of cream cheese and everyone LOVED it!
Stellar Gourmet – Mulling Spices
This company makes their mulling spices fresh to order from local, sustainable, and organic ingredients whenever possible – plus they include a reusable muslin bag inside so you can get started right away making your house smell wonderful and your drinks tasty. These are freshly cracked and dated. And they sent us a recipe card so we have the directions to make spiced cider, mulled wine, and a vinaigrette with our spice mix. The ingredients are coriander, clove, cinnamon, anise, allspice, cardamom, and black pepper.
Benjamin Soap Company – Pumpkin Spice Candle 6 oz (?$16)
This is a deliciously scented candle that is small-batch made from 100% non-GMO soy from American-grown soy beans plus essential oils. It has a 35 hour burning time with a lead-free cotton wick. It contains no added chemicals or dyes so has an eco-friendly, clean burn.
The Pecan Shop – Apple Pie Pecans 4 oz ($7.99)
These pecans are wild harvested and certified pesticide free, sustainably grown on a family owned Texas farm. The only other ingredients are apples, local wildflower honey, and cinnamon to give them a sweet apple flavor that blends so well with the natural crunchy taste of these pecans!
Fortitude Provisions Company – Autumn Kindling Room Spray 1 oz ($5)
“The warm, comforting aroma of an evening in the forest. A blend of Cedarwood, Spiced Orange, Patchouli, and Campfire Embers take you on a scenic journey.”
Oh my – this room spray smells SO good! It is handcrafted with natural botanical extracts, using apothecary recipes to make your room smell immediately like autumn. The scent is a mixture of orange, cedar and clove – and you can separate out each one as you close your eyes, breathe it in, and are transported to someplace wonderful!
Bonus – The Gratitude Bag
“Each day, write something you are thankful for on a piece of paper and put it in the bag.”
The November 2016 My Texas Market box was a hit once again! I loved everything in this month’s box and can’t even begin to pick a favorite! Each item was perfectly curated for this month’s theme and it was like a stroll through a Texas Farmer’s Market. The inclusion of the Gratitude Bag was a great way for us to remember all the things we are thankful for – especially all of you wonderful folks who stop to read our blog!!
Know someone who would love the kind of things that My Texas Market sends? You can purchase a subscription, order past boxes when available or – even better for that hard to buy for relative – create your own box from their online shop!
This is a great November box. Lots of good things in the box all coming with cards telling about the item. I love farmers markets – they see the best stuff.
