My Texas Market Subscription Box Review Dec 2015
My Texas Market is a monthly subscription box that sends you 4-6 carefully selected products from Texas farmers’ markets and local businesses. The small-batch artisan items fit a monthly theme and could be anything from foods, snacks, teas, candles, beauty products, crafts or any other thing you might find in a Texas farmers’ market. Their purpose is to expose customers to new products and companies while supporting local artisan businesses. Subscription costs are:
- 1 month – $35
- 3 months – $100
- 6 months – $195
Plus shipping
The company promises that the value of each box will be at least $35 -$40 but says not to expect that they will send a hugely underpriced box of items. You can cancel at any time or just skip a month if you wish. And if you want to purchase more of something or add to your box, they have an online market with lots of things to choose from.
The presentation of this December box was just lovely. It looked like a gift you would see under the Christmas tree! The items were curated perfectly for the holiday theme “The Night Before Christmas” and I had such a great time going through the box and examining each item inside! The box included a list describing each product and the business behind it. This is a personal touch that I love in a subscription box and I believe it shows pride in the business and care for the customer. So let’s look at the goodies we have for December!
Kimber’s Cookies – Cranberry and White Chocolate Cookie Kit ($10)
This is a box mix containing all-natural ingredients, no artificial coloring or preservatives, and makes 18 cookies with the addition of an egg, some vanilla and butter from your kitchen. Directions are easy to follow and you end up with scratch-quality cookies. This cookie kit was named in the “Top Ten Objects of Our Obsession” by the editor of Food & Wine magazine! How cool is that?!
Cowtown Chic – Texas Wood Ornament ($7)
This is a rustic wooden ornament in the shape of the state of Texas handmade with tiny round wood slices. You can hang it on your tree, add it to a wreath, wherever you want a little Texas to be present! This will go in our RV for our trips out west.
Amy’s Ice Creams – Hot Chocolate Mix ($6)
Amy’s is an Austin based company, which makes them hot stuff in my book! If you have never been to Austin, you are missing out on a very cool place! This hot cocoa mix is simply made with cocoa powder, non-fat dry milk, sugar and salt and mixes right up with hot milk or hot water. I have to say it is delicious! Not a bag of chemicals poured into your cup but the real deal and it has been perfect to sip on here in the cold of the mountains this month.
Michele’s Marshmallows – Peppermint Marshmallows ($8)
These are the first handmade marshmallows I have ever tasted and I am so glad that I did! I started out putting the first few in my cup of hot cocoa (see above!) but thought, hmm, maybe I should taste them before I let them melt into the cocoa… Then I ate them both. They never have made it into my cocoa because each time I end up eating them right off the top. These are made with organic ingredients and NO corn syrup by a mom who wanted the best for her family. And they taste great!
Karima’s Korner – Shiner Holiday Cheer Coasters ($10)
These are 4 tile coasters with cork backs, 2 of each design. I like them and they will be even nicer with a few Shiner beers on them. I will fix this problem when we go to Texas in the spring. These coasters, and the beers that match, will be shared with my son who is stationed in Texas. Because this is probably as Christmassy as he gets.
Ardent Hands Designs – Boo Boo Buddy ($6)
This is a hot/cold pack filled with lentils with a washable hand-stamped canvas cover that can be heated in the microwave for a hot pack or put in the freezer for a cold pack. It is reuseable and nonscented. Great for holiday headaches or aches/pains.
The value of the box contents came to $47, more than the price paid, and each item is a little jewel in its own right. I was very pleased with the December 2015 My Texas Market box and hope to purchase another one later in the spring when we return from our travels. I also want to say that every contact I have had with a representative from the company has been most pleasant and helpful! If you are looking for a quality subscription box from a company with a sound business ethic, look no further!
The Homespun Chics received this item for review. All opinions are 100% our own.
Omgosh what a fun selection of items!! I am loving the presentation and the thought behind every content!! Super cute!
I wish I had seen this before Christmas. My daugter spent a loved year in Texas. She would have enjoyed this. I have to keep it on the backburner for the next occasion.
Wow, looks like a lot of great stuff. I love subscription boxes. They are so much fun.
It really does look like a nice subscription box. The cookies look tasty, and so does the cocoa! And the ornament & coasters are really cute!
I love subscription boxes. I’m getting 6 different ones right now but always looking for new ones. I never heard of this one, it looks like a great box.
