Moustache Stationery November 2015 Review
Moustache Stationery is a monthly stationery subscription box. Each month has a different theme and includes paper products, writing utensils and more. Boxes ship worldwide and typically ship toward the end of the month. The cost is $39.95 per month and auto-renews.

November 2015 Moustache Stationery Box
Theme: Christmas
The Cost: $39.95 with free shipping in the US
“We scour the earth for the most amazing stationery products. Every month we curate an exclusive box for our subscribers. Our boxes often contain limited edition items only available to Moustache Stationery subscribers.” – Moustache Stationery
I received my November box on 12/7 but the holidays really snuck up on me. (What happened?) I really love Moustache Stationery’s concept and enjoy finding new products to use in my office. The price felt a bit steep for my budget, but what can I say? This girl is a sucker for office supplies!
This is probably one of the thinnest (and lightest) boxes I have received. I was excited to see what was inside this tiny package!
Word. 2016 The Standard Memorandum Notebook – Value: $11.00
This is a great little notebook “inspired by pocket journals from the early 1900s.” Jon Contino teamed up with Word. to bring back these pocket journals after finding his wife’s great-grandfather’s pocket journals that detailed his everyday life. I think this is a wonderful idea and would be something to pass down from generation to generation!
Moustache Stationery Mini Gift Cards with Envelopes (Set of 3) – Value: $6.00?
It is only fitting that Moustache Stationery would send gift cards to use for Christmas. I really love the designs and used all three cards on gifts for my family!
Sharpie Fine Point Permanent Marker (Gold Metallic) – Value: $2.13
I was a little confused by the inclusion of a Sharpie, especially for a subscription box company that talks of scouring the earth for amazing stationery products. Nevertheless, I can understand the reasoning based on the Christmas theme. This would work great for labeling / decorating solid-color wrapping paper or brown paper packages (tied up with string).
Uni-ball Impact 1.0mm Gel Pen (Silver) – $2.98
Again, this is not an uncommon pen for me, but perhaps it is less common outside the US? I happen to love the Uni-ball brand and this gel pen has great fluidity. I used this pen to label the black envelopes of the mini gift cards, which looked great! 1.0mm is a bigger tip than I prefer, but the pen writes very smoothly and I will put this to good use for future craft projects!
Impression Paperie Christmas Gift Tag Pack (Set of 6) – Value: $6.00
I really love these gift tags, and so did the friends and family that received them. They are really cute and made with high-quality, textured cardstock. Impression Paperie was created by a mother & two daughters in Covington, Louisiana who were looking to “impress the world with their aesthetics.” Everything on their site is gorgeous and is made “to renew the love of writing and receiving an exquisite handwritten note.”
General Pencil Company Peel & Sketch Charcoal (5632T Med) – Value: $2.02
General’s 558 Series Charcoal (White) – Value: $1.63
General’s 557-2B Series Charcoal (Black) – Value: $2.30
Alvin & Co. Heritage Chunky Charcoal – Value: $2.71
Pentel Hi-Polymer Eraser (Small) – Value: $0.72
This is a great starter charcoal set, which I would be floored to receive back in college. Aah, those were the days — no job, no mortgage, no responsibility… What was I saying? Unfortunately, I barely have time to eat dinner at night, let alone pull out my art pad and do a sketch. I wasn’t sure what these had to do with Christmas, but I suppose you could use them to draw on brown paper and make your own wrapping paper! I’d probably spray the paper lightly with a clear coat to avoid smudging once decorating is finished.
Metal Shop 20% Off Coupon Code
Three lucky subscribers received a bullet pencil from Metal Shop in their box! These pencil holders are really neat, based on the old spent .303 rifle cartridge bullet pencils originating from Britain in the late 1890s. Metal Shop reimagined the concept by adapting the bullet pencil holder to fit almost all pencil types. This is basically a really cool pencil cap shaped like a bullet which holds a shortened pencil nub. I did not receive a bullet pencil in my box, but every subscriber received a 20% off coupon code to use at Metal Shop! (Bullet pencils start at $37.50)
My Thoughts
November 2015 Moustache Stationery Box Total Value: $37.49
I have to be honest and say I was a little underwhelmed with this month’s box. I still love the concept of Moustache Stationery, but the value isn’t there for such an expensive box and the items did not completely fit the “Christmas” theme. I used the gift cards and gift tags for Christmas gifts and think the pocket notebook is awesome. The charcoal supplies seemed like an odd inclusion though and I was not very excited to see a Sharpie in a $40 stationery box. I just received my December Moustache Stationery box in the mail today, so we will see if the next box holds a better value and stays true to the month’s theme.

How fun!! What a perfect box to get you ready to tag Christmas gifts!! I love the name and the theme!! 🙂
This isn’t anything I’d pay money for. I’m not that into paper products.
