May 2019 My Texas Market

My Texas Market is a monthly subscription box that sends you 4-6 carefully selected products from Texas farmers’ markets and local businesses. The small-batch items fit a monthly theme and could be anything from foods, snacks, teas, candles, beauty products, crafts or any other thing you might find in a Texas farmers’ market. Their purpose is to expose customers to new products and companies while supporting local artisan businesses. A portion of all profits are donated to the Houston Food Bank.

Subscription costs are:

1 month – $39.99

3 months – $114.99

6 months – $215.99

12 months – $414.99

Subscription prices do not include shipping or any applicable taxes. They do promise that the value of each box will be at least $35 -$40 but to not expect that they will send a hugely underpriced box of items. You can cancel at any time or just skip a month if you wish. And if you want to purchase more of something or add to your box, they have an online market with lots of things to choose from.

Murphy’s Mellows – Russian Zephyrs (2) ?($5.00)

These are called Raspberry Rosettes and are “fluffy little clouds of Raspberry Mellow” with a layer of chocolate in the middle. So yum! Murphy’s Mellows is based in Elgin, TX and makes marshmallows, mug toppers, S’mores kits, hot chocolate kits, S’mores in a jar, wedding favors, & event promotion items.

Austin Apothecary – Citrine Illuminating Body Oil 2 oz ($18.00)

This is a fragrant body oil to soothe dry skin. It is all natural and made with sunflower oil, castor oil, argan oil, hemp seed oil, vitamin e, turmeric, calendula, mica, botanical fragrance, orange essential oil, tangerine essential oil, lime essential oil, lemon essential oil. Austin Apothecary is an all-natural body care company based in Austin, TX. All of their products are small-batch made.

Aspire Beaute – Coconut Face & Body Mist 2 oz ($11.00)

This is a small-batch made non-greasy face & body mist that absorbs quickly into the skin to provide intense moisture. Aspire Beaute is based in McAllen, Texas. All of their products are organic & hand made to pamper you from beard to toe.

Raeka Beauty – India Gold Anti-Aging Serum 1 oz ($58.00)

This is a skin serum made with real 24K gold and Manuka honey (plus a few other ingredients like argan oil, cranberry oil, marula oil, sweet almond oil, chamomile oil, ginseng extract, and hyaluronic acid.) This serum hydrates your skin to reduce fine lines while it helps to promote your skin’s metabolism.  Raeka Beauty is based in Austin, TX. It is a collective of New Generation Ayurveda based skin care to bring ancient traditions into the modern world.

Jordan Cordori Industries – Sea Breeze Soy Candle 4 oz ($8.00)

This is a fresh scented soy candle with a cotton wick. Made with a blend of fresh florals with hints of citrus and musk & has a 35 hour rated burn time. James Cordori Industries is based out of Dallas, TX and sells hand poured candles made with the highest quality of products available.

The May 2019 My Texas Market box was perfectly curated for the month’s “Rest & Relax” theme, though with a rather feminine focus. All of the products were lovingly made by Texas small businesses and the value was much higher than the cost of the box. My favorite was (of course!) the raspberry rosette I had the pleasure of devouring. It was just heavenly – soft and raspberry flavored with chocolate in the middle. The June My Texas Market box will be themed “Tex-Italiano” so I expect great things from that box!
