This subscription box ships to the US only.
The Homespun Chics paid for this subscription box. All opinions are 100% our own. This box contains affiliate links.
First peek! I have lots of uses for that cheerful, see-through bag! There are variations of this box so not everyone received the same products that I did.
The large fold-out product information sheet (the PLAY! BOOK) gives lots of great instructions and suggestions, no pricing. The PLAY! PASS card is attached to the front of the PLAY! BOOK.
The theme for the May 2017 Play! by Sephora box was
Beauty on the Rise
Sunday Riley – Ceramic Slip Clay Cleanser 1 oz travel size ($10.80)
Minimize pore size with this all natural gel-based, foaming clay cleanser designed for normal to oily skin. It contains vitamin C and lots of natural essential oils plus several different clays to detoxify, tighten pores, and stimulate collagen and circulation.
Christophe Robin – Cleansing Purifying Scrub with Sea Salt 1.35 oz travel size ($13.33)
A purifying scrub for your hair! Glad I read the directions before using it on my face! Designed for sensitive or oily scalps to detox, cleanse, and restore balance. Plus you can use it after coloring your hair to soothe tingling and itching.
treStique – Mini Highlight & Perfect Multipurpose Stick in Maldives Luminescent .04 oz sample size ($6.50)
This is a smooth gel highlighter stick that works wherever you need some glow. The full size stick has a dauber at the opposite end. If you don’t use a highlighter stick as part of your makeup routine, you should give it a try. You can highlight your cheekbones, browbones, inner/outer corners of your eyelids or whatever spot needs some brightening.
Nudestix – Magnetic Matte Lip Color in Greystone 2.5 gm Full Size ($24)
This is a matte greyish brown lip color that you can use to stain, color, and line your lips. The color is long-lasting and provides maximum coverage. The Greystone color is a little iffy and not really a spring color at all, but the company does make other more flattering ones if you want to give this formula a try.
Grande Cosmetics – Grande Lips Hydrating Lip Plumper sample size ?($5)
This is a clear gloss lip plumper made with hyaluronic acid to soften your lips while plumping. It has mixed reviews on Sephora but if you want plumper lips it is worth a try.
Maison Margiela – “Replica” in Beach Walk sample size .04 oz ($2.88)
“Beach Walk combines fresh and radiant notes of bergamot, coconut milk, lemon, pink pepper, and musk to evoke a familiar but forgotten moment—a walk along a sandy beach.” That’s the official description and I couldn’t say it better. Perfumes are so very individual and for me, this scent is way too musky for a beach scent. I expected something very light and was a bit disappointed in the result.
One of my favorite pieces of the May 2017 Play! by Sephora box was this plastic envelope! They almost always send the products in a pretty fabric bag (different each month!) but this container has potential for lots of uses!
The retail value of the beauty samples in the May 2017 Play! by Sephora box came to roughly $62.51 and I received 2 skin care products, 1 hair care product, 2 cosmetics, and the perfume sample. I almost never like the random scents that come in the boxes but I am always hopeful whenever a new one shows up! There is certainly a good value in the price paid and this is a wonderful way to try out high-end brands that I would not pay for unless I knew ahead of time that I loved them!
This has a nice variety and is well worth the cost.
Great review on Sephora’s makeup.
If I wore makeup, perfume & such, I think I would like sample boxes rather than spend a small fortune on products that I don’t know if I like or not! There are way too many beauty products out there!!
I really like the look of this box. It is pretty and offers a number of items. I like how you can try something out before you buy it.
