May 2016 Revel Box Review + Coupons
Revel Box is a fun, new monthly box company that curates five to six handmade, seasonal gifts inspired to be simple, modern, and whimsical. The company was founded by Deanna, a self-proclaimed crafter, solo mom, teacher and pug owner! From the shipping materials, to the personal greeting, to the curated contents, every part of the box is thoughtfully curated and presented to you. Monthly boxes cost $42.00 each and are one-time purchases.
The Homespun Chics paid for this monthly box. All opinions are 100% our own.
May 2016 Revel Box
SO after I received the Spring Cleaning Revel Box, I knew that purchasing the May 2016 Revel Box was an excellent use of my “splurge” money. I just had to have it! I love everything about Revel Box, especially the brown paper packaging and adorable stamping. Deanna (owner) takes time to personalize each package and wrap it with care and love. PLUS, it’s pretty much like getting a whole box of Etsy delivered to my door. (And heaven knows I love Etsy.)
Deanna revamped her box offerings and I am LOVING the options. All boxes are one-time purchases and can be purchased monthly, quarterly, or even for special occasions like birthdays and other celebrations! All boxes include the cost of shipping (whew!) and are a sure-fire way to make you or a loved one smile! 🙂

May 2016 Revel Box Theme: “Self-Care”
The self-care box was inspired by Mother’s Day but designed for any woman who deserves to treat herself well. – Revel Box
This black & white linocut sticker featured on the box is awesome! Deanna carved out this floral linocut to create handmade relief print stickers for all of the May boxes. Relief printing was one of my favorite processes to study and practice in my art classes growing up. Deanna did a wonderful job and I love that the floral print was inspired by Andy Warhol’s exhibit at the Crocker.
I love the clean presentation. LOOK at that B&W polkadot paper! (This is the information sheet.)
The included information sheet is in the form of a sweet little letter from Deanna. The info sheet provides descriptions and costs for each of the items in the box.
First peek!
HappyYouHappyMe “COLORCARDS” | $15.00
ColoriCrafts Pencil Crayons | $2.64
I love both of these items! The colored pencils come from Poland and are the perfect compact size! This box contains 12 pencils that are already pre-sharpened. I have a pretty large set of high-quality colored pencils already but don’t like to take them out of the house or use them while Little G is around. I am glad to have a spare set to use when coloring or drawing with Little G! 🙂
As for the COLORCARDS…
These COLORCARDS are just lovely! The prints are adhered to heavyweight recycled paper board and feature some stunning designs! I am looking forward to coloring these in and gifting them to friends and family. These would make excellent gift cards on presents! Each of the 12 cards are about the size of a standard coaster and have enough room on the back to write a thoughtful note.
ColoriCrafts Beech Tea Light Holder, decorated | $5.00
Shore Soaps “Relax” Test Tube Bath Salts | $5.00
I am LOVING this month’s Revel Box! I could talk for days about candles, candle holders, and accessories (and I’m sure I have already on the blog), but this tea light holder is too sweet! And look at this unique container of bath salts! It’s so feminine and modern.
This tea light holder is beautiful and handmade out of beech wood by ColoriCrafts. These raw beech wood candle holders were then decorated with ink and polished in coconut oil. I love the simple lined design I received and can’t decide where I want to display it!
I love the look of the test tube bath salts and am super grateful that the container is actually plastic (whew). The ingredients are simple: dead sea salt, epsom salt, dried lavender buds. I really need to give myself a mommy-spa-night soon so I can try out these bath salts and RELAX, sans toddler.
MyDreamWall “Treat Yourself Well” 5×7 Art Print | $7.00
I love love LOVE this Scandinavian inspired art print covered in whimsical doodling and pops of color. I have been receiving a ton of art prints lately (thanks to subscription boxes) and really need to pick up some more frames. And some more wall space… This art print has been printed on white card stock and includes a white envelope in case, you know, you could ever part with such a beautiful design.
Hagensborg Chocolates Milk Chocolate Truffle Pig | $4.00
Tazo Calm Chamomile Tea Bag | $0.20
Mmm, tummy goodies! Tummies need love too, you know! I was SO super excited to see this Truffle Pig in my box. This was first featured in the Revel Box Valentine’s box and received rave reviews by pretty much EVERYONE. I am extremely grateful I was able to try such a delicacy! This little tea bag gift is a really lovely addition to the box. I love Tazo teas and the Calm Chamomile flavor is one of my favorites. I am actually drinking this tea right now!
Let’s just take a moment to think about the personal touches here. Not only did Deanna take the time to package a perfectly yummy, cozy tea bag in a tiny craft envelope, but she also stamped it to tell me that I am simply amazing (thank you!), personalized it with my name, and closed it with a cute piece of washi tape. How can you not LOVE Revel Box?!
Here’s the cute Truffle Pig bar out of the package. Is this not SOOOO CUTE??? Look at these three little pigs!!! I love them!
The inside of the truffle bar is a beautiful, creamy milk chocolate. As sad as I was to take the first bite and ruin the adorableness in front of me, I am happy to report that the next several bites were not sad at all. In fact, I ate the entire bar by myself, upstairs in the office, in the dark, with only the photo lights shining on my guilty face. This was heaven, though I felt a tad bit like Augustus Gloop in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory… which is totally cool so long as I have truffle pigs to enjoy.
My Thoughts
Words cannot express how much I love this monthly box. Deanna really nailed it with the “Self-Care” theme and I felt like I could indulge and spoil myself with all of these Etsy-esque luxuries. My favorite part of the box is the fact that I can actually use everything included here. Nothing is too crazy-out-there and absolutely all of the items are perfectly ME. So far, Revel Box is the only box I have received that I can completely relate to; it really feels like I was mailed a care package from a close friend. I am constantly bragging about Revel Box to my friends, colleagues, family, cats… but seriously, Revel Box is so special and I love every tiny macro detail that is carefully included in every box that is sent out.
I am sad that this is my last box for a little while, but am super-seriously-more-than-for-sure picking up the August monthly box, themed “Readers and Writers” box. I mean, office supplies? Caffeine? Umm… yeah. Who wouldn’t buy this box?!

Oh, this is nice! “Self-Care’ is a wonferdul theme! The bath salts (so cute in the tube!), the colors cards, the chocolate, everything! I’m with you – I would use everything in this awesome box!
What a cool box! I love tea light holder.
I love the idea of this box! Thanks for the post.
Cute box! I like the color cards! 🙂
I love the unique gifts in this box.
I wouldn’t mind having the box myself. My favorite item though is the chocolate truffle pig. Yummy!
Omgosh I love how personal this feels!! Just amazing the companies and people who you know and see put time and care into what they give to their customers!! Just fabulous!
What a nifty idea for a subscription box. I can think of several people it would make a nice gift, and for me, too!
This is another subscription box that I will definitely have to try. Thank you for sharing the coupons.
I really think I would love this one. I like reading your sub box reviews, there are so many out there it is nice to have a breakdown. I was thinking of the Mystery box you reviewed but I think I am going to point my husband in this direction for my June birthday. Thank you for the coupon codes!
That truffle bar is so cute!
