May 2016 Daisy Care Box Review
Daisy Care is a subscription box for dogs that offers different package options so that you can choose the kind of products you want to receive. Plus they have a one time purchase option that lets you try without a subscription commitment. The name of the company comes from a rescue dog named Daisy, who was abandoned with her litter mates and has now found her purpose in life as a beloved family pet. She is the inspiration behind this pet-centric company that provides carefully curated dog treats and accessories to help you bond with your pet while providing a healthy lifestyle.
Daisy Care has a variety of options from which to choose. Each option has monthly, 3 month, 6 month and 12 month subscription options. The longer the subscription, the less expensive each box becomes.
Treats Only Everyday Care Package Subscription:
- Prices range from Monthly – $37.50, to 12 months prepaid – $419.40
Treats & Toys Everyday Care Package Subscription:
- You choose the size of the toys you will receive.
- Prices range from Monthly – $47.95, to 12 months prepaid – $539.40
Annual Holiday Care Package Subscription: $239.88
- 12 themed packages for New Years Day, Valentine’s Day, St. Patrick’s Day, Easter, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Independence Day, National Dog Day, Labor Day, Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Winter Holiday. (Judging from the cost, I am guessing that these holiday themed packages are much smaller than the monthly sub boxes.)
Special occasion packages can also be a one time purchase. Once they become available they are listed in the online store.
You can also create your own care package by choosing items in their online store.
The Homespun Chics paid for this subscription box. All opinions are 100% our own.
Treats play a huge part in the lives of my dogs so I was excited to receive my first Daisy Care box. Border collies have a strong work drive and Jed and Rocket will do just about anything I ask them to if they can figure out how, but adding a treat here and there makes every job even more special for them! The boys knew immediately that this was (finally!) a box for them and just could not wait until I had the packages out and photographed! Rocket spent the afternoon sitting by the box to be sure none of the neighborhood cats, dogs, ibises or squirrels somehow got through the window to steal the treats away!
My May 2016 Daisy Care Treats Only box contained 5 bags of treats. I chose not to go with the toys option as my boys chew through most toys in about 5 minutes. All of the treats were made in the USA! There was no product information card included in the box.
The Lazy Dog Cookie Co. – Elicksors 6 oz ($5.99)
These are superfood treats for dogs with greens (Kale, Kelp & Spinach) as the featured ingredients. The treats are 100% natural, wheat, corn, and soy free, and full of antioxidants. Jed and Rocket each gave them 2 paws up!
Fido Fruits – Gourmet Apple Slices 5 oz ($11.44)
These were apple and chicken flavor, made with 100% Washington apples, grain free and gluten free. Chicken is in the ingredients list but I don’t see how they got chicken in the dried apple slices – maybe a chicken broth wash? But anyhow they are low calorie snacks and they even give you a suggested treat portion/day based on the size of your dog.
Fruitables – Sweet Potato and Pecan flavor Dog Treats 7 oz ($9.39)
These dog treats are crunchy, 100% natural, and deliciously healthy, free of wheat, soy, corn and artificial ingredients. The main ingredients are sweet potato, organic oatmeal, pearled barley, potatoes, canola oil, brown sugar and pecans. The package says you can smell the difference and you really can – I can smell the cinnamon through the package. The dogs can probably smell it from down the block!
Buddy Biscuits – Grain Free Soft and Chewy Dog Treats with Peanut Butter 5 oz ($5.09)
Grain free, gluten free, and made with chickpea flour, potato flour and peanut butter, these are a small size perfect for training treats! And the dogs all love the peanut butter taste!
Bitz – Real Meat Healthy Gourmet Dog & Puppy Treats 4 oz ($6.71)
All Natural Chicken & Venison Jerky Treats are made of 95% free range, farm raised chicken and venison with no added hormones or antibiotics. The meat is air dried to keep in the vitamins and other nutrients. These treats are also a nice small training treat size, easy to fit in a pouch or pocket. Woof!!
The price of the five bags of treats in the May 2016 Daisy Care box came to $38.62, just about the cost of the box. I pulled the prices from several different shops so it is just an average value as dog treat prices are really variable, depending on where you look. I am pleased with all of the treats and so are my dogs! There is unfortunately no place in the order form or anywhere on the Daisy Care site to notify them of a dog’s food allergy so two of the bags of treats contained chicken, which Jed can eat but Rocket is allergic to. Still, that leaves three bags of treats they can share! Happiness reigns!!
Holy cow that’s expensive! I love the pet treater box you guys reviewed, and I want to try another one but they are all so much more expensive. I do like that you can customize this one though.
My pups would love this! The Sweet Potato and Pecan flavor Dog Treats sound really good.
We signed our girl up for Daisy-Care as well, and got a deal with a 50% off coupon for a 6 month subscription. We got slightly different treats and a toy, but all high-quality, full size packages of treats. I’m really happy with our Daisy-Care subscription!
I didn’t realize they had so many options. Treats, toys, all kinds of yummies. Our dog is spoiled with them, too. I can see your boys know whom that box is for! 🙂
I would love this box for my dog but just a little out of my price range.
I have a dog named Day-Z and she would love this box! Thanks for the review.
