May 2016 Birchbox Review
Birchbox is a monthly beauty subscription box that contains five beauty samples curated for different categories, including skin, hair, makeup and fragrance. You complete a Beauty Profile when you create your customer account to help them choose what to include in your box. For $10 each month or $110 for an annual subscription, this thrifty little box lets you try new beauty products for a very low cost and always meets or exceeds the value of the price paid. They include a product information card that gives you the description and cost of each item, a feature that I always appreciate in a subscription box!

“Let’s take this party outside, shall we?”
The May 2016 Birchbox has a lovely variety of five skin care and cosmetic products to get you set for the out of doors fun the summer will bring! For starters, just look at the colorful box! Birchbox has partnered with Keds for Birchbox styles that feature the May box design! You can see them here.
The product information card tells you about each of the products samples and gives a (full size) price for each. It is easy to read and they never forget to include it. The beauty care tips associated with the products are always helpful, too.
So take a look at what we have in the May 2016 Birchbox!
Amika – Perk Up Dry Shampoo .75 oz sample size ($7.50)
This is a dry shampoo with no parabens, sulfates, talc, aluminum starch or other potentially toxic substances. It absorbs oils, creates volume and refreshes your hair with natural rice starch. The Sea Buckthorn Berry scent is pleasant and it is for all hair types.
COOLA – Daydream SPF 30 Mineral Makeup Primer .10 fl oz sample size ($4.20)
This is a great unscented primer with SPF 30 sun protection included! It not only protects against the sun’s damage but it blurs fine lines and minimizes pores while it helps your makeup stay put. I like that it is weightless and water resistant – a real plus for the heat of the summer, especially down here in FL. I have become a true believer in makeup primers with SPF protection!
dr. brandt – PoreDermabrasion .25 oz sample size ($7.25)
This is their Pore Perfecting Exfoliator, using salicylic acid to unclog your pores, caviar lime to brighten your skin and lentil seed to tighten pore walls. This exfoliator smooths out skin texture as it cleans and refines the appearance of pores. Keep usage down to twice weekly.
Eyeko – Skinny Liquid Eyeliner Black .04 oz travel size ($10.30)
This is a long-lasting, smudge-free single-stroke black eyeliner, easy to apply so you can just get pretty and head out the door!
TOCCA – Crema da Mano Bianca 1 oz sample size ($5)
I have dry skin so I use a lot of hand creams. I really like this one – it is silky and quick absorbing, plus it smells really good! The Bianca fragrance is a mixture of green tea and lemon, light and not overpowering. The scent combination reminds me of sweet iced tea! It has natural extracts from shea butter, avocado oil and aloe, so you know you will have lovely soft hands that smell like summer!
The May 2016 Birchbox product value adds up to $34.25! Each of the 5 beauty products were sample/travel size this month but each one was just a smaller version of very pricy, premium skin care/cosmetic items that frugal old me would really want to try out prior to purchasing the full size product. For a $10 monthly box, I get to use really expensive beauty products and find favorites that I never knew existed!
These all look like great beauty products. I would be most excited to try the Eyeko Skinny Liquid Eyeliner. I love eyeliner. 🙂
This looks like a great box. I would love to try the dry shampoo.
Omgosh what a perfect box!! I adore everything in it!! I have big pores and an addiction to black eyeliner lol!! Its like it was made for me 😉
