March 2016 Taste Trunk Review
Taste Trunk is a monthly subscription box for gourmet foods. They have a selection of trunks you can choose from – Gourmet, Healthy Chef, Sweet or BBQ – or you can create a unique trunk for yourself. They also have trunks available for single purchases. You will receive 4-6 premium gourmet products.
Cost of a subscription is $39/month with free shipping. Right now you can save 30% on a 3 month subscription for only $99.
The Homespun Chics paid for this subscription box. All opinions are 100% our own. This post contains affiliate links.
This was my first Taste Trunk box and I was excited to see what goodies they sent! My first impression was that each item was packaged well and nothing was broken. Good start! I always look for a product information sheet but none was included in my box. Not sure if this was a one-off oversight as I had read that Taste Trunk does include one and adds recipe cards as well. So let’s see what WAS included!
Napa Valley Truffle Infused Oil Blend 6.4 oz ($9.50)
This is a mixture of canola oil, EVOO and white truffle essence. You can use it to season all kinds of foods and even stir it into your mashed potatoes! It is made in the USA.
Wine Country Kitchens Cherry Tomato & Olive Tapenade 9 oz ($6.99)
Cherry tomatoes blended with Kalamata and Green olives create this savory tapenade. It is gluten-free, made in the USA and will be delicious on my fried polenta.
San Francisco Salt Company Hawaiian Lava Salt 5 oz ($8.60)
This is black salt crystals harvested from pacific waters using solar evaporation methods. It gets its color from activated coconut shell charcoal used for its antioxidant properties.
Sticky Fingers Bakery Vanilla Chai Scones Premium Mix 1 lb ($5.99)
This looks perfect for me – just add water and bake! “A lightly sweet scone bursting with fragrant spices like cinnamon, cardamom and ginger. Perfect with tea.”
Nunes Farms Almond Caramel Chews 3 oz ($2.20)
There were 7 individually wrapped caramel chews in a bag. These are very sweet, tasty and full of almonds.
I loved the curation of my box and am pleased to say that we will eat every bit of it. Sometimes we receive a food box with a lot of items that are very gourmet but not very useful! I love to cook and make new recipes but the reality is that having the time and energy to be edgy in the kitchen only comes along on rare occasions! I would rather receive new foods that are easy to bring into our everyday meals. The downside of the March 2016 Taste Trunk box is that the value of the items only came to $33.28, a bit of a gap between the cost of the box and the value of the contents. No product information card, either. So we will see how the April 2016 box compares!
I like everything in your box. Want the caramels & Lava Salt especially.
