March 2016 Eat Feed Love Taste Club Box
The Taste Club from Eat Feed Love, based in Vancouver, Canada, is a monthly subscription box full of gourmet foods to tempt your taste buds and expand your foodie reach. Each month’s box comes with a different theme and the foods are curated to that theme, along with recipe cards featuring those new ingredients. The cost is $39.99/month and the best deal is $225 for a six month subscription which is $37.50/month.
Every month the company shares proceeds from sales with a worthy charity and the March charity was the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank, serving more than 320,000 people monthly. A letter included in your box tells you about the charity and what to expect in your box.
The Homespun Chics paid for this subscription box. All opinions are 100% our own.
The March theme was St. Patrick’s Day so the foods in the box were what you need to prepare traditional Irish meals. As always, each item was carefully wrapped and padded. I have never had a broken item come out of one of their boxes and I can always feel the care and attention given to preparing each box for shipping. We love unwrapping each item to see what is inside – it’s like getting a box of food gifts every month!
First peek! Everything is well wrapped and safely delivered!
Mt. Rose Drinks – Bloody Mary Mixer 1 qt. ($9)
This HUGE bottle of Bloody Mary mixer is the very first thing you see when you open the box! Hand crafted in small batches, made with cane sugar, no high fructose corn syrup and gluten free. You can use it with a tot of vodka for its intended purpose (like I will), for a hangover cure or just cook with it if you don’t want to indulge. Or do all of the above!
“We’ve all been there. Just put on those shades, pour yourself a bloody mary, and carry on. And maybe check your text messages.”
Righteous Felon Craft Jerky – O.G. Hickory Beef Jerky 2 oz ($8)
This hickory flavored beef jerky is minimally processed with no artificial ingredients and made from Black Angus beef. The flavor is mildly smoky and the texture is tender – one of those beef jerky treats that ends up being lunch because you have eaten the whole bag! No confessions here – just sayin’…
Wilder Condiments – Horseradish Mustard 6 oz ($10)
If you love horseradish mustard, then you will love this stuff! It is mustardy but horseradishy, with a definite bite! This would be great on hot dogs or whatever you want to put mustard on!
Bob’s Red Mill – Caraway Seeds 8 oz ($6)
This is a big bag of caraway seeds, used to flavor rye breads, sauerkraut, sausage, cheese and soups. They included a recipe for rye crackers on the back of the package. Caraway seeds are very aromatic and a little goes a long way, so I will keep these in the freezer in between uses.
Laguna Salt Company – Malted Vinegar Handcrafted Sea Salt 1.5 oz ($8)
This is sea salt infused with malt vinegar, perfect to sprinkle on your fish and chips! It has a subtle tanginess that won’t overpower your meal but you can really tell you are eating salt with malt vinegar on it. You can also use it in aioli, dips, sauces and stews. I might just fix some fish and chips so I have an excuse to eat this stuff!
Spice Station Arrowroot 2 oz ($5)
I have never used arrowroot before but it is a powdery starch to use as a thickening agent for sauces, stews and other things that need to be thickened. You can use it to replace regular flour if you are gluten intolerant. Arrowroot creates a buttery looking glossy luster to sauces.
9 Recipe Cards ($5)
The 9 recipe cards included in the March 2016 Eat Feed Love Taste Club box are all in keeping with the Irish dinner theme and each of them sounds wonderfully tasty! I will be happy to add them to the little wooden box they sent me a few months ago and definitely will be making most of these recipes!
- Guinness Beer Battered Fish and Chips
- Tangy Horseradish Mustard Aioli
- Classic Bloody Mary with a Twist
- Mustardy Gravy
- Irish Lamb Stew
- Bangers and Slaw
- Irish Soda Bread
- Shepherd’s Pie
- Irish Slaw
Total value for the items in the March 2016 Eat Feed Love Taste Club box comes to $51, definitely a good value for the cost of the box and along with that value comes the excitement of having the ingredients to concoct some really tasty Irish foods! Have you tried this subscription box? If you love to cook, this might be just right for you!
