June 2016 My Texas Market Box Review
My Texas Market is a monthly subscription box that sends you 4-6 carefully selected products from Texas farmers’ markets and local businesses. The small-batch artisan items fit a monthly theme and could be anything from foods, snacks, teas, candles, beauty products, crafts or any other thing you might find in a Texas farmers’ market. Their purpose is to expose customers to new products and companies while supporting local artisan businesses.
Subscription costs are:
- 1 month – $35
- 3 months – $100
- 6 months – $195
The subscription prices do not include shipping or any applicable taxes. They do promise that the value of each box will be at least $35 -$40 but to not expect that they will send a hugely underpriced box of items. You can cancel at any time or just skip a month if you wish. And if you want to purchase more of something or add to your box, they have an online market with lots of things to choose from.
The Homespun Chics received this box for review purposes. All opinions are 100% our own.
“You could drive all day and still be in Texas…”
The theme of the June 2016 My Texas Market box is Summer Road Trip and the goodies they sent were curated to fit that idea. This subscription box always has a great product information card that tells about the box contents as well as about the Texas businesses that produce them. And I appreciate that!
As a bonus coming in the mail but not in the June 2016 My Texas Market box, subscribers are also receiving a 265 page Texas State Travel Guide, a Texas Wildflower Guide, and a Texas Highways Event Calendar! I am SO excited about this as we are headed out west in August and will be exploring the great state of Texas as part of our trip!
Zax Snax – Lemonberry Snack Bag 3 oz
A really tasty bag of snacks – and to make it even better, Zax Snax are organic, all natural, dairy-free, GMO-free and vegan! Their motto is “Essentially Delicious,” and that pretty much says it all! This snack variety is made from coconut, cashews, organic maple syrup, cranberries, brown rice crisps, sea salt and lemon essential oil.
Lemon Tree Herbs – Lavender Mist
This is a light lavender aromatherapy mist that smells really good. It was made by an Austin herbalist who uses local plants when possible. She sells her wares at the Austin Farmer’s Market, so maybe I will get to meet her when we are there in the fall.
Sinful Bakery – Everything Bar 4.5 oz
This is a made-from-scratch chunky vegan bar made with pecans, agave, oats, raisins, and the like, all natural and mostly organic. It is very filling and will fuel your morning or afternoon snacking needs.
Sasha’s Hand-Poured Skincare – Zinc Oxide Sun Stick .75 oz
I saw “zinc oxide” and thought of the white stuff my mom used to put on my nose at the beach. And I was so pleasantly surprised! Hand poured and made with organic Shea butter, organic virgin coconut oil, local beeswax and zinc oxide, this will protect you from the sun without giving your skin a thick white coating like plain zinc oxide. It is clear and is supposed to be fragrance-free, but does have a light, sweet scent (almost like chocolate!) that I like.
Hippie Hollow Granola – Granola Snack Bag 4 oz
All natural, made with organic oats, almonds, pecans, cashews, raisins, cranberries, honey oil, & vanilla, this is a hand roasted granola that you can take along with you for a healthy snack.
Earth Meets Water – Mermaid Lagoon Air Freshener
This is a good smelling summery scented air freshener tag on a string that you can hang anywhere to enjoy the scent. And Earth Meets Water donated a portion of their profits to the Turtle Island Restoration Network!
Most of the products curated for the June 2016 My Texas Market box came from small businesses who only sell their products at local Farmer’s Markets, so I did not calculate prices for each item in the box this month. Of the 6 items in the box, 3 were food and 2 were scents. Along with the great little sunscreen stick, I thought they were spot on for their Texas Road Trip theme!
Ah!! Omgosh what an amazing box!! I love everything in it!! Yay for healthy snacks!
I like the idea of knowing where everything comes from, and this would make a great gift for family from Texas.
