Jerky Snob Subscription Box Review Dec 2015
♥ Homespun Holidays! ♥
Jerky Snob is a “small-batch artisan jerky club” that delivers a box of really tasty jerky every month. You choose the size – ½ lb (3-4 bags) for $27 or 1 lb for (6-8 bags) for $54. You also choose if you want a mix of medium and mild or only mild. They also have extra jerky flavors that you can add to your box if you want to try something specific. You can cancel at any time.
The jerky they send you is made without nitrates, nitrites, MSG or corn syrup, so it is much healthier than some kinds you can purchase in the grocery store. And the producers are small, independent companies, so while it’s not buying local, it’s the next best thing to it.
Also included with the jerky is an information card with details about each type in the box, including ingredients. This thoughtful addition to a subscription box shows me that the senders care enough about the companies they work with to give them an introduction and a description of their product, and enough about their subscribers to let them know just what was chosen for them that month.
This month I received 4 bags of jerky, totaling 9 oz. Two bags were from Long Beach Jerky Co. (dried & true), made in Long Beach, CA.
Buffalo Wing flavored beef jerky rated a 2 out of 4 on the hotness scale (on the bag) is their Midwest Tradition Meats line. This jerky is marinated in buffalo wing sauce and pairs best with “beer and football and beer.” The taste was just a little spicy, right in line with the hotness scale, and quite delicious!
Gramps Original beef jerky is described as mild but boldly flavored, an enhancement of an old recipe 30 years in the making. I thought it tasted more traditionally jerkyish, just a little bit salty.
The other 2 bags were from 2 different companies.
Lawless Jerky Aloha Teriyaki Beef Jerky is made with 100% grass fed beef and is gluten free. This would mean they used wheat-free soy sauce to flavor the beef. It is sweetened with brown sugar, spiced with ginger, garlic and onion, tangy from rice vinegar and salted with the soy sauce. And I rate it as VERY tasty!
Savage Jerky Co.’s Sriracha Bacon jerky is the bomb! “Eat like a savage!” It is also gluten free, made with natural ingredients and quite tasty!
This was my first Jerky Snob box but it won’t be my last! Both my husband and I have really enjoyed savoring the jerky and it is great to have around in the evening to snack on. Do you love jerky? What do you think of the Jerky Snob subscription box?
