January 2019 My Texas Market

My Texas Market is a monthly subscription box that sends you 4-6 carefully selected products from Texas farmers’ markets and local businesses. The small-batch items fit a monthly theme and could be anything from foods, snacks, teas, candles, beauty products, crafts or any other thing you might find in a Texas farmers’ market. Their purpose is to expose customers to new products and companies while supporting local artisan businesses. A portion of all profits are donated to the Houston Food Bank.

Subscription costs are:

1 month – $39.99

3 months – $114.99

6 months – $215.99

12 months – $414.99

Subscription prices do not include shipping or any applicable taxes. They do promise that the value of each box will be at least $35 -$40 but to not expect that they will send a hugely underpriced box of items. You can cancel at any time or just skip a month if you wish. And if you want to purchase more of something or add to your box, they have an online market with lots of things to choose from.

Mugg + Company – Enjoy the Little Things Travel Mug

This is a double walled plastic travel mug that reminds us to “Enjoy the Little Things.” We really can’t have enough travel mugs, especially in the winter. Mugg + Company is a small, woman-owned business located outside Dallas, selling individually designed eco-friendly, dishwasher safe coffee mugs. They did not have any travel mugs in their inventory right now but you can check out their lovely ceramic mugs.

Mad Hectic Foods – Mad Hectic Protein Oatmeal 12.8 oz ($8.50)

This isn’t just a bag of regular old organic oatmeal! It is protein oatmeal that contains vanilla whey protein powder as well as organic quick oats, organic cane sugar, and organic flax seed meal. You can prepare this in the microwave or stovetop and get up to 14 gms of protein per serving while upping your Omega 3 intake. This concoction contains no artificial anything, either. We received the plain oatmeal, but Mad Hectic Foods also makes this in other flavors – Almond Pecan, Strawberry Pecan, Raspberry Almond, and French Chocolate. The company is located in Houston.

Raeka Beauty – Turmeric Cucumber Peel-Off Mask 2.5 oz ($29.50)

This is a peel-off facial mask for dry skin that removes impurities by tightening your pores (benefits of cucumber) and then removing the top layer of dead skin cells. Turmeric is a super-spice with the ability to prevent skin issues, heal, and repair. Raeka Beauty uses high quality plant based ingredients from India in their products. They are located in Austin.

Ila.Designs – 2019 Bookmark Calendar ($6.50)

This is a set of 12 bookmarks with a different chair themed illustration for each month. They are printed on 14pt premium uncoated paper. She also has a very pretty FREE 2019 planner on her site that you can download and print out either in color or black & white. Ila.Designs is located in Portland, TX.

The January 2019 My Texas Market box was perfectly curated for the month’s “New Year, New You” theme! I had not received a My Texas Market box in more a year and was surprised at the changes  I saw – new box design, new product information card design, new pricing. But the one thing that hasn’t changed is the quality of the artisanal products they include in their box. I had been concerned about only receiving 4 products in the January box but when checking the prices I found that the value of this subscription box is still worth the cost. It has always been, and remains, one of my favorites!
