GrandBox is a monthly subscription box designed for seniors and grandparents. It includes at least 5 items reflecting a monthly theme, plus you can choose to personalize each box with five 4 x 6″ family photos and a personalized note.

The cost is $33/month, with optional 3 month & 6 month plans that are slightly less expensive per month. Shipping is free and you can cancel at any time. The box ships out around the middle of each month and they only ship to addresses in the USA.

The January 2019 GrandBox arrived with the contents securely packed within tissue paper printed with vintage ads. Everything was in perfect condition. The first item in the box was an information sheet describing the GrandBox concept, the monthly theme, a detailed description of the box contents, and some topics for conversation with (or for) your senior box recipient.

Jumbo Print Easy Crosswords #2 by Matt Gaffney

This is a 288 page crossword puzzle book with large print. Each grid and each set of clues take up an entire page (giving each puzzle two pages) so the whole book is easy on the eyes. This is especially helpful for reading those pesky little numbers in the boxes. The puzzles are 11 X 13 squares, slightly smaller than the standard daily-size 15 X 15 square puzzles, and most have only two theme entries. The answers have their own section in the back of the book. This book of crossword puzzles is a great way to keep minds exercised in the depth of winter when sometimes it is hard to get outside to keep the body exercised!

Alice’s Cottage – Spiced Mug Mat

This is a 5″ square fabric mat stuffed with aromatic all-natural cinnamon chips, cloves, and allspice that release their delicious scents when you place your warm mug on top. The mat can be machine washed/dried it if needed, plus you can refresh the spice scent by running your rolling pin over it a few times. It protects your table and is perfect for home or office.

Caspari Hankies

This is a package of 10 (4-ply) hankies to keep nearby in your purse or pocket. The winter weather is sure to bring drippy noses and then there are the colds and flu always going around. This package of hankies is decorated with images of holiday light strings, but Caspari has dozens of other gorgeous hankie designs to choose from as well. They are so pretty that it’s a shame to wipe your nose with them!

Ritter Sport – Milk Chocolate with Butter Biscuit 3.5 oz

This is a delicious chocolate covered butter cookie that any chocolate or cookie lover would be happy to find in their subscription box! This treat is a perforated square butter cookie covered with 29% chocolaty cocoa cream, made in Germany. Yum!!

Snowflakes – Candy Mints Menthol Eucalyptus 1.76 oz

These little mint chips are handcrafted with USA pharmaceutical grade birchwood xylitol harvested from sustainable forests in the USA & Canada AND 100% natural flavoring (menthol & eucalyptus oil). Marketed as The Purest Candy in the World, they meet vegan, paleo, diabetic, and all kinds of other-diet-friendly standards. However, they are toxic to dogs and animals, so you have to keep them secure around your pets.

Mo Me – Hot Chocolate Stick 1.16 oz

This is a cube of milk chocolate on a stick to make your own hot chocolate. Just dissolve the chocolate cube in a cup of hot milk, stir, sip, and enjoy!

The January 2019 GrandBox was a treasure box of wonderful items for folks to enjoy while waiting for spring to arrive! The products were obviously carefully curated to fit the month’s theme for the seniors the box was designed to please. I love that you can personalize your GrandBox with family photos and notes. This really sets this subscription apart from so many other generic boxes.!
