January 2017 My Texas Market Box Review
My Texas Market is a monthly subscription box that sends you 4-6 carefully selected products from Texas farmers’ markets and local businesses. The small-batch artisan items fit a monthly theme and could be anything from foods, snacks, teas, candles, beauty products, crafts or any other thing you might find in a Texas farmers’ market.
Their purpose is to expose customers to new products and companies while supporting local artisan businesses. 10% of all profits are donated to the Houston Food Bank.
Subscription costs are:
1 month – $35
3 months – $100
6 months – $195
Subscription prices do not include shipping or any applicable taxes. They do promise that the value of each box will be at least $35 -$40 but to not expect that they will send a hugely underpriced box of items. You can cancel at any time or just skip a month if you wish. And if you want to purchase more of something or add to your box, they have an online market with lots of things to choose from.
The Homespun Chics received this box for review purposes. All opinions are 100% our own.
First peek! My Texas Market does a great job of safely packaging each item.
The theme of the January 2017 My Texas Market box is
Rise and Shine
My Texas Market always sends a great product information card. They give helpful information on each product and you can learn all about the local Texas companies that produce each one.
Bona Dea – Gluten Free Pancake Mix 15.3 oz ($5.99)
This is a gluten free baking mix designed for pancakes, waffles, and crepes and made from organic non-GMO whole grain millet and brown rice flours. It is also free from dairy, soy, nuts, and eggs to make it allergy-friendly. What a tasty and healthy way to start off the day – plus you can add your own ingredients to jazz up your breakfast with bananas, berries, chocolate chips, or whatever you love to eat!
District Roasters – Farmer’s Market Blend Coffee 8 oz ($10.50)?
This is a bag of hand roasted organic whole bean coffee in a blend created exclusively for My Texas Market. It has “flavor notes of deep chocolate with hints of cinnamon and caramel.” Wish I could claim that quote but my nose isn’t nearly that sensitive! All of the coffees from District Roasters are organic and either fair trade certified or in a direct trade relationship.
The King and I – Blueberry Whipped Honey 4 oz ($3.25)
This is a jar of absolutely delicious honey made from dried blueberries, honey, and blueberry organic extract, each ingredient directly from and made on the family-owned company’s farm. The King and I gives profits from each sale to their non-profit refuge for abused and/or trafficked women and children.
Blue Heron Farm – “Fake it Till You Make It” Mug ($10)?
“Spoiled Goats – Fresh Cheese” is the motto of Blue Heron Farm, a “small, thoughtful goat dairy in Field Store, Texas,” and this mug is a celebration of their love of goats with an image of one of their very own as the model. These people quit their day jobs and found joy in goat farming – check out their website and learn all about their beloved goats and how they make their cheeses!
The Tiny Collection – Cinnamon Buns Candle ($6)
This is a small batch hand poured soy mini candle in a reusable tin container that smells just like its name and brings instant memories of delicious breakfast pastries! The candle is made from all natural soy wax and a natural fragrance blend using essential oils with a cotton wick added. It is eco-friendly, clean burning, and has absolutely no calories – so you can enjoy the scent without the guilt!
The retail value of the products in the January 2017 My Texas Market box came to roughly $35.74. A couple of the companies featured are too small to have much of an online presence or (like the coffee) were exclusive to My Texas Market so I gave it my best guess! This was an excellent breakfast box created with love for the dawning of a new Texas year with products from companies that are not only in Texas but that give back in many ways to our world and the people in it.
Head over to My Texas Market and browse through their online shop of things from past boxes. Not sure about those things? Search our website to find our review of each one! You can create your own box with no subscription required, order a gift card for a friend so they can create their own box, or purchase a subscription. Orders over $35 have free shipping, too!
This is a really neat idea. I love that they used local farmers markets. I am from Oklahoma, this could easily look like it was put together from that state, lol.
I was born in Texas, though I don’t live there now. how fun this box would be for us.
Love the theme for this one!! We adore our weekend breakfasts as a family and this would have been perfect for us!! I love every box you get from them!! So warm and cozy!!
I’ve heard of this. What yummy items, a good way to learn about Texas
I want that blueberry honey. I miss some things about Texas.
This seems like a wonderful box to get or gift to someone, I love the products that they
add in the boxes.

Your review makes me want to have breakfast for dinner tonight! I love the blueberry honey!
This is a fabulous box idea and everything looked really good – especially the honey and the hand roasted coffee! Great to know that the companies and market both give back to the community.
Nice idea , I think it would make a nice gift.
I want to see the bluebonnets in Spring again.
