January 2017 Meowbox Review + Coupon!
Meowbox is a monthly (or bi-monthly) subscription box for cats that contains 4-6 ameowzing toys and treats that are all carefully researched and selected for their high quality and uniqueness. Meowbox picks food and treats that are only made in the US or Canada that are tasty, nutritious, grain-free, organic, or locally made. With every box purchased, meowbox donates a can of food to a shelter cat on the subscriber’s behalf. The cost is $22.95 per box (with free shipping). Meowbox is available in the US and Canada.
The Homespun Chics received this box for review. All opinions are 100% our own.
January 2017 meowbox
Our meowbox arrived a little over a week ago. My cats could sense the catnip-y goodness as soon as I brought the box inside. Seriously, the cats worked together as a team of kitty ninjas to try opening this box every single night as soon as the humans went to bed. I finally ended up hiding the meowbox inside a paper bag – tucked into a tote bag – and placed under a stack of boxes until I could take the darn pictures! Whew!
The Cost: $22.95 per box (free shipping)
Meowbox can be purchased as monthly or bi-monthly subscriptions. Meowbox subscriptions are available in the US and Canada only, but the rest of the world can still party on and order any of the items that are available in the meowbox shop (found HERE)!
Gift Subscription Option: You can also buy gift subscriptions (non-renewing) for a slightly higher cost. (Gift subscriptions start at $32.95 for one month and are discounted for longer length subscriptions.)

I LOVE the packaging! There’s even a little feather decorating the wrapping paper. Subscribers can provide their kitties’ names and ages in order for meowbox to personalize the boxes. I can see the love and care meowbox puts into every single box by handwriting the names on the boxes!
First peek!
Look at this beautiful kitty cat artwork by Katie Shocrylas! Katie is a ridiculously talented (and 100% booked) tattoo artist based in Vancouver, BC specializing in full color illustrative tattooing. You can check out her Instagram HERE!
There is a lovely note on the back of the card talking about kitty’s new year’s resolutions (so cute!) Meowbox also included a link to view the details of everything inside the January 2017 meowbox.
Mad Cat Brunch Buddies | $6.99
Oh my gosh, this set of cat toys is egg-cellent! (See what I did there?) The toys are very soft and contain both catnip and silvervine inside. Silvervine is a catnip alternative that works for many cats who are not normally affected by catnip. Added bonus, there is CRINKLY material inside both of the toys for extra stimulation!
My bengal, Agi, investigates the Mad Cat egg. She is not normally phased by catnip toys but found this one delightful! I caught her later on totally making out with the egg swaddled in her arms…
Tidbit, on the other hand, found the bacon to be more appetizing. I have no idea why my cats weren’t actually playing with the toys… I guess they were raised not to play with their food!
Apollo Peak – The Original Cat Wine “White Kittendel” (1.6 oz) | $5.36
I can’t believe we received Apollo Peak cat wine in our box! I’ve been wanting my cats to get sloshy with me since pretty much forever! Our bottle was filled with a light yellow beverage, though I noticed the current White Kittendel cat wine looks to be more of a Rosé.
I wanted to pour it into a fancy wine glass for my fancy cats, but decided practicality was better. Besides, my cats’ whiskers would never allow for such a thing.
Agi and Rambo were brave enough to try the Apollo Peak cat wine. I learned quickly that my cats are total squares and ended up not being too interested in day drinking. Luckily, I saved half the bottle to try out on my mom’s four cats. Surely SOMEbody will imbibe with me!
Ruff & Whiskerz Emoji Octopus Toy | $5.00?
This is a meowbox exclusive cat toy! Embarrassingly, I did not know what animal this was supposed to be when I first pulled it out of the box and had it turned upside down… I thought maybe it was a pink alien bunny… It makes SO much more sense now that I’m staring at it the right way. It’s made out of some stretchy spandex-type material and is stuffed FULL with catnip!
Rambo had a hard time letting me take any pictures of the octopus… She kept jumping up on the chair and grabbing the toy away from me.
My little girl, Katie the Kitten, was busying herself with her egg and bacon while Rambo claimed the octopus for herself. Rambo has now carried the octopus into every room, leaving it in the weirdest places (under my pillow on my bed, behind the curtains in the dining area, propping it upright on the stairs…)
Animalove Wool Balls for Cats (2 pack) | $10.00
If my cats were stranded on a desert island and could only bring one toy, it would be a felted wool ball. They go ga-ga over these things! Wool balls roll smoothly, BOUNCE, and can be picked up by little kitten paws. This 2-pack was made exclusively for meowbox! (Animalove sells individual wool balls and 3-packs on their website.)
Agi and Rambo played the most with the Animalove felted wool balls, though all of my cats had a turn. I’m a little nervous that I cannot find either one right now… I’m hoping the wool balls didn’t get wedged under the stove where no toys are ever seen again.
GiGwi Catch & Scratch Chicken Toy | $5.50
This chicken toy has all of the elements of a superior cat toy: feathery arms, papery tail and legs and a body stuffed with catnip.
Cooper went NUTS with the chicken! It is extremely hard to get photos of cats that are high on catnip, by the way. The more he shook the paper tail, the faster he attacked the toy. Chaos, I tell you!
Crazy eyes……
Omega Paws Meowjito Cat Treats (3 oz) | $3.84
My cats may not have enjoyed the cat wine that much, but they ALL loved these Meowjito cat treats! The little triangle treats smelled like mint and are apparently highly addictive. My cats were swarming around my legs like sharks waiting for me to make a wrong move.
Since I couldn’t take a picture of all the cats while I was feeding them, I decided to treat Tidbit to a few extras in the hopes of getting a clear picture… (This was the best of the bunch.)
The majority of the photos ended up like this…
Final Thoughts
Meowbox is truly ameowzing! I am really impressed with the quality of all the toys and treats we received. I came up with an estimated total value of $36.69 which is great for a $22.95 subscription box! The cat toys were extremely unique and well loved by all. Plus, I feel like the greatest cat mom ever after opening meowbox with my kitties. I can totally see why meowbox is a super favorite among cat subscription boxes!

These boxes are so much fun! Could you do a review of a box for dogs? Thank you for sharing.
This is such a cute idea. My daughter in law has two cats that she would really enjoy having this for. What a great gift idea. Thank you so much for sharing
Omgosh what a fun box!! Loving that kitty wine!! I need a day drinking cat! 😉 Plus mojito inspired treats!?!? Too fun!!
White Kittendel?? Like does it actually affect the cats? So now, cats can drink as well as legally get high?! haha I love Meow Box!
So I’m not a cat person but I wanted to see what would be in the box. Wine for cats?
I know my kitty would love these!!
It’s hilarious that they have a cat wine, and your cats are too square to partake. LOL. I don’t have a cat anymore, but my goodness this would have been so much fun.
Thanks So Much for Sharing Your Review of the Meow Box, It Sounds Like an Awesome Subscription Box for Cats! I Have Never Received a Subscription Box Before but I Have Always Wanted to Try a Food Subscription Box and a Subscription Box for My Pets! I Have 2 Cats and a Dog but They are So Picky About What They Eat Which Must Mean That They are Spoiled Huh? This Meow Box Does Sound Awesome Though and it’s Definitely Something That I Will Consider! Thanks Again for Sharing, Have a Great Evening! – Jana
