January 2017 Kira Kira Crate Review
Kira Kira Crate is a Japanese beauty subscription box created by the company that makes Japan Crate. You receive 6-8 full size items “through a mix of four categories: Daily Care, Cosmetics, Pamper, and Bath & Spa.” The box ships directly from Japan with free shipping worldwide. Cost is $29/month and you can skip a month if you notify them before the next month’s renewal date.
The Homespun Chics received this box for review. All opinions are 100% our own. This post contains affiliate links.
First peek into the January 2017 Kira Kira Crate!
The box is a lovely color and I am happy to see a product booklet right on top!
The crate comes with a glossy, full color product information booklet. It begins at what we consider the back of the booklet and reads toward the front, so it opens from left to right. The first page lists their four categories of beauty products and which item is in that category. This box contained 7 items.
The booklet has great product information, directions for use, and lovely photos. I love their use of different colors for each page.
The booklet ended with a beauty tutorial to help you try out a new look and to use some of the products included in the box.
Pure Smile – Red Wine Essence Mask
This is a moisturizing mask for all skin types. It does not actually contain red wine, but does have Vitamin E, Collagen, Hyaluronic acid, and Arbutin to give you a glowing, soft face after a 15 minute relaxing mask.
Biyou Shukan Towels – 20 pack
This is a package of disposable sponge-like facial towels that are perfect for traveling, or if you have concerns about the cleanliness of the towels you are using, have a problem with acne or other skin disturbances, or are going out in the woods on a hike. The writing on the package is entirely in Japanese, so I was extra glad of the product information booklet in English!
Avance – Tweety Eye Liner in Super Black
This is a waterproof black eyeliner in a cute, cute package! The tip is like a very thin felt tip marker but you can make a wider line by applying more pressure. Perfect for every day use!
Dear Laura – Lip Gloss in Subtle Red
This is a hydrating & plumping lip gloss serum with no scent or flavor but a lot of shine. The color really is quite subtle with only a hint of pink color when it’s on your lips. The bunny packaging is very cute and you could use this as part of an Easter gift or basket.
Mebika – Hair Care
These are sample packets of shampoo and hair conditioning mask with all the writing in Japanese so I really had to guess which was the shampoo and which was the conditioner! The shampoo left my hair clean and the conditioner only has to be left on for 2-5 minutes and was easy to use in the shower.
Teapot Hand Cream in Lemon
This is a good size tube of hand cream with a lemon pie scent. It is not overly thick and absorbed well into the skin on my hands without leaving them greasy. The hand cream also comes in Earl Grey and Rose scents. I would like any of the above!
Hot Gel Mask
This is a hot face gel mask that can be used for half body baths on the face and/or upper body while in the bathtub. The Japanese culture has a belief that half body bathing (the lower half below the chest) is beneficial to digestive and detoxifying processes, as well as relaxing before bedtime. Using this gel on the upper part of the body is good for increasing circulation, relieving body aches, and decreasing fluid retention. You massage it in for 20 minutes and then rinse.
The January 2017 Kira Kira Crate was so interesting to try out! The Japanese beauty products were a mixture of whimsy and usefulness. My favorites were the lip gloss and the hand cream, but every item is of use to me. I will definitely take the towels with me next time I travel! I didn’t even try to do a price calculation as so many of these are basically Japanese and not available in this country except maybe at an Asian specialty store.
What did you think of this Kira Kira Crate? Too cutesy or just right?
This sounds so cool! We’re a single income homeschooling family, so I can’t afford to subscribe, but I really wish I could!
Why must everything be so cute and well packaged?
