Heartbreaker Valentine Craft by Dana-Made-It!
Heartbreaker Valentine Craft
I was searching for an easy Valentine Craft that Little G and I could do together and found this amazing template on Dana-Made-It! We made this craft to give to his teachers and then I spent too much time assembling store-bought valentine cards for his classmates. (His preschool set limitations on the types of valentines that could be shared with kids for safety and allergy reasons.) Little G had so much fun today giving all of the teachers these sweet Heartbreaker Valentines and then trading valentines cards with his classmates!
Supplies Needed:
- Dana-Made-It Heartbreaker Template (FOUND HERE)
- 8.5″ x 11″ Copy paper
- Crayons
- Scissors
- Stapler / Staples
- Candy (We used Sweethearts candy)
We needed to make a total of 19 valentines to give his teachers at the school, so we did a lot of coloring! Little G was able to help with this project and colored all over the full sheets of paper he had in front of him. Fortunately, his cousin Rowyn helped us color some of the pages so we got these finished pretty quickly.
I wasn’t able to get a picture of the boys drawing (mainly because I spent the entire time chasing them around) BUT I did get a picture of Rowyn’s drawing he made for me. He is 4 1/2 years old and is obsessed with drawing. When I asked him if he could help us color the heart templates, he first drew his own template and told his dad that he needed to help me make hearts for Little G! (So cute!)
Once all of the hearts were colored, I got to work cutting them out (which is why it didn’t matter that Little G colored all over the whole page!)
I then paired the front and back sides together and stapled around the outside of each heart, leaving a small opening at the top.
Now was the fun part; Little G and Rowyn got to fill all of the heart valentines with the classic Sweethearts candy! (I went to Target and found a 1 lb bag of Sweethearts to use!!) I may have let the kids eat a few of the Sweethearts candies during this process… Isn’t that half the fun??
Once the boys filled the hearts near to the breaking point, I took the hearts back and finished stapling them closed.
I repurposed one of mom’s Glossybox boxes to hold all of the Heartbreaker Valentines. Then Little G and I decorated the box with our February Pipsticks stickers and I even used a few paper hearts from my February Tinselbox! I think this craft turned out great and I really love that I was able to get the boys involved! The teachers were floored by Little G’s gifts and told him he was so creative and thoughtful. (Warmed my heart and made Little G proud!)
