Harvest Hash Chex Mix Recipe!
Harvest Hash Chex Mix Recipe!
It’s finally FALL here in the mountains and I couldn’t be more thrilled! Is it just me, or did it feel like fall would never arrive? Last week, Gabe’s Kindergarten class had a mini field trip to a local park for their annual Fall Celebration! All parents were asked to sign up to bring in some goodies for the kids’ snack time. I felt this was the perfect excuse to break out the Harvest Hash Chex Mix and make little goodie bags for each of the kiddos.
As you might know, five-year olds are notoriously picky eaters… that being said, I felt this was a low risk treat that was sure to please most! This snack mix has a little bit of everything, including Bugles, Chex Mix, candy corn, Reese’s Pieces, and pretzels. I’ve made a similar recipe a few times before, but this time I decided to take it a step further and toss the mix with a delectable sweet sauce that was added on by Debbie Chapman over at onelittleproject.com. Thanks, Debbie!!
Harvest Hash Chex Mix
Between the super yummy, vanilla-y sweet sauce and all of these fall candy treats mixed in, I was confident that Gabe’s class would flip for this snack mix!
The best part? It takes only about an hour to throw together, meaning I can totally prepare this snack the night before the party without stress!
You will need:

This is a perfect recipe to do with your little helper(s). Gabe was ecstatic to help me! First step was to melt the butter and then whisk in the brown sugar and vanilla extract to create the yummy sweet sauce. While Gabe was helping with whisking, I preheated my oven to 275°F.
Next, combine together the Rice Chex cereal, Bugles, and pretzel twists. I thought I had large mixing bowls until I started adding the dry ingredients together. Holy moly this recipe makes a LOT!
Pour the sweet sauce over the bowl(s) of dry snack mix and stir gently. I used a silicone spatula to carefully turn the mix over repeatedly until I felt everything was coated evenly.
Fill (2) 9×13 glass dishes with the mixture and bake at 275°F for 45 minutes total. Take the snack mix out every 15 minutes to gently stir. Let it cool!
Once the snack mix has cooled, add in all the candies and toss again! At this point, you can store your Harvest Hash Chex Mix in airtight containers OR you can fill little goodie bags.
I made one batch of this snack mix and was able to fill (20) 1 cup goodie bags for Gabe’s Kindergarten class. I put them all in a cute wicker basket and off we went to the park!
Gabe was THRILLED to share his snack mix creation with his friends at school! Almost all of the kids loved the snack mix and everybody was excited to find all the candy inside. We plan on making this treat again around Thanksgiving to share with our friends and family!
