February 2016 Tinselbox
This is the first year in a long time that I’ve been excited about Valentine’s Day. Little G is finally old enough to understand and enjoy the holidays and his preschool is having a special Valentine’s Day party tomorrow! Wee!
Of course, I had no idea what that meant for me as a parent… but boy did I learn… I needed to have cards for all 21 of his classmates plus get treats or gifts for the 19 teachers at his school. I was relieved when I found this month’s Tinselbox waiting on me when I came home. I needed some inspiration — and fast!
First peek at the Valentine’s-themed box!
The information card on the reverse lists all of the items included in the box with a brief description of each one. This month’s theme is “Love Letters”.
Also included was this sheet detailing the history of the Valentine and tips for crafting the perfect Valentine for your sweetie.
Bright Room Studio Collaboration Modern Calligraphy Set
Tinselbox and Bright Room Studio collaborated to make takeaway cards for practicing script and then tracing to emulate modern calligraphy. Read more about the collaboration HERE!
The set includes several sheets of tracing paper as well as blank cardstock, a Firma Micron 02 pen and a red Gelly Roll pen.
I adore this Valentine sentiment on the left and had a lot of fun practicing on the tracing paper. It really made me feel like a pro! When I tried to freehand it, I, um… well, let’s just say I wasted about half a notebook’s worth of paper and my husband laughed at me until I quit.
Meri Meri Heart Garland – Value: $10.00
I love paper garlands and think this is so feminine and sparkly! It makes me want to throw a Valentine’s Day party!! This comes packaged up disassembled, which is perfect for me since I absolutely couldn’t find a place in my house where this would hold up to six cats, a dog, and a toddler. Now add to it that there are glitter hearts in here. Glitter. (‘Nuf said.) I am using them to decorate little Valentine’s gifts for all the cool peeps in my life. They’re perfect!
Bright Room Studio Love You More Card
What a gorgeous watercolor print! I love the lettering and the sentiment. I always fuss at Jonathan for saying “I love you…more” when I tell him I love him. It’s always in jest, but still this will be the perfect card to give him this year!
‘Til Death Do Us Part is for Quitters Card – Value: $4.25
This is hilarious and awesome! I love it and I’m pretty sure this is going to be displayed in my home office for the rest of time.
Sweethearts Candy!!
What would Valentine’s Day be without Sweethearts candy? I am so grateful that I received this little box of candy when I did. A lightbulb went off in my head and I used it as inspiration to do a fun arts & crafts project with Little G for his teachers’ gifts! (More on that tomorrow!)
My Thoughts
This was a perfectly curated Valentine’s box that gave me some great inspiration for this year’s gifts! The Sweethearts candies were gone in about a minute and a half (sorry, not sorry). I love the versatility of the heart garland and am stoked to be able to use the paper hearts as decorations on gifts! I’m starting to think that no amount of practice will help me with writing in fancy script, but I love the black pen and am still holding out a teensy bit of hope that I will improve with practice and time. This month’s box really worked for me and I loved the theme!
Have you ordered your March box yet? The theme is “A Colorful Easter” and is fitting for anyone who wants to add a little color to their holiday.
