Eat Feed Love Taste Club Subscription Box January 2016
The Taste Club from Eat Feed Love in Vancouver, Canada is a monthly subscription box full of food for you to explore. Every month is themed and the gourmet products are curated along that theme, along with recipe cards featuring those new ingredients. Their motto is “Yummy matters” and yes, it does!
“We travel the world (and countless dirt roads) all in search of discovering new markets, visiting family farms, and collecting the most delicious foods out there…Your delivery will include a variety of spreads, condiments, jams, honeys, syrups, cooking sauces, oils, vinegars, salts, spices, seasonings, chocolate and cocktail mixers.” The cost is $39.99/month and the best deal is $225 for a six month subscription which is $37.50/month.
Every month the company shares proceeds from sales with a charity related to that month’s theme and this month the charity was World Vision’s food and nutrition sector to provide meals to Indian school children.
The theme of this month was Indian cuisine and all of the items in the January box went along with preparing an Indian-themed feast. I have to admit to being a bit overwhelmed at the prospect, but not being one to let a box of food get the better of me, I take it as a challenge! I have never done more Indian cooking than to dust a little curry powder into a recipe, but my husband loves Indian cuisine so we will jump into this with both feet! I am so glad the recipe cards are included. Plus, a few weeks before the food box arrived, they sent me a wooden recipe card box with more recipe cards so I have a specific place to store my new recipes. And how did they know my old recipe box was falling apart?! I was just thrilled to receive it!
Everything in my box was carefully, individually wrapped and arrived in excellent condition. My husband and I enjoyed opening each item to inspect what was inside. There was a letter from the company about the theme but no product information sheet. A search of their website will give some, but not all, of the product information and price.

Epices de Cru – 3 tiny tins of spices – Black Cumin, Green Cardamom, & Madras Curry
These are 3 spices that form the foundation of a lot of Indian cuisine.
- Green Cardamom – ($3.75) This is a fragrant spice that infuses dishes with a sweet and refreshing scent. It is considered the queen of spices in Indian cooking.
- Black Cumin – ($1.90) This is used in Pakistan as a finishing spice. It is smaller and more delicate than regular cumin.
- Madras Curry – ($2) This is an all purpose curry blend that works well with any ingredient. It is the most famous of the curry blends.
Itty Bar Askinosie Dark Chocolate ($1.70)
This is sourced in Ecuador, very tasty for dark chocolate. It’s a health food, right?
Overall the price of the January box came to a little over $50, give or take since some of the prices I found were in Canadian dollars and I don’t know how that translates. So a fair price, no great bargain, but again I am excited to learn how to cook Indian foods and now I have some of the basic ingredients on hand to make that work! There are even more recipes on the Eat Feed Love website to use this month’s products, but I will start with the cards they sent and go from there!
What do you think of the January box?
