Try The World partnered with Michelin to curate a box full of treats from various holiday culinary traditions for this special box. The large fold-out product information card tells all about the items they chose.
And they put lots more facts, trivia, and suggestions on the back. Plus you can go the their website’s magazine for more! https://magazine.trytheworld.com
Giuliano Tartufi (Italy) – Truffle Sauce 2.8 oz ?($9.50)
Truffles are a rare, edible fungus that grow underground at the base of certain trees. They can’t be grown commercially so they are very expensive – especially since they have to be hunted by specially trained dogs or pigs that can sniff them out. Truffle sauce is great for an appetizer, folding into an omelet, or as part of a pasta sauce.
Marlette (France) – Organic Spiced Bread Mix 4.05 oz ($2.60)
This is an organic bread mix from a small French bakery. The mix is a traditional French holiday cake, made with freshly milled organic flour and spices. It is vegetarian, dairy-free, and vegan.
En Luen (Taiwan) – Mini Pineapple Cakes ($3.30)
These delightfully buttery little pineapple cakes are very popular, traditional recipe in Taiwan. They come individually wrapped and each is just a couple of bites – with a sweet, sticky pineapple filling in the middle. They are perfect with a cup of coffee.
Darling Sweet (South Africa) – Honey & Salt Toffee 2.6 oz ($3.45)
This sweet, delicious toffee is made with real butter from Darling – a South African town famous for its butter. They are wrapped in recycled packaging.
Teatonics (United Kingdom) – Holiday Energy Tea .42 oz ($5.08)
This is herbal tea in bags (8) made with yerba mate, orange peel, lemon peel, peppermint, rosehips, and natural grapefruit flavor. This tea gives you an energy boost without the caffeine jitters.
Nyakers (Sweden) – Ginger Snaps 5.3 oz ($3.40)
Made by Sweden’s first and most popular bakery dedicated to gingerbread, Nyakers makes gingersnaps in different flavors – lemon, orange, vanilla, & original. Ours were orange flavored. They taste like freshly made cookies, not store-bought ones. There were a lot more in the box than in the photo but my husband got to them first!
Sprucewood Handmade Cookie Co. (Canada) – Canadian Maple Shortbread 3.35 oz ($3.50)
Shortbread is a traditional holiday treat – I know it has been one at my house! – and these are full of maple syrup. They are sweet with a shortbread crunch and a definite maple flavor.
Yoffi (Israel) – Date Spread 4.23 oz ($5.20)
Dates are a popular holiday food in the Mediterranean and a symbol of good luck. This date spread is made with ripe fruit grown on a community farm in Israel. A recipe for a tart is included on the back of the product information card – or you can put it on toast or add it to a cheese plate.
The retail value of the December 2016 Try the World Michelin Holiday Box came to roughly $36, pretty close to the cost of the box. The value of the box is not monetary, but that each item represented the holidays in a different country and culture making it truly a world celebration of foods!
How fun!! I love that they tell you where everything comes from!! Trying new things is always exciting and fun!! Perfect box!!
