December 2016 Revel Box
“Winter Box”
The holidays still have me reeling from all of the craziness, but alas it is time to return to work and the real world in the morning. My brother, Jamie, came into town to spend Christmas with us and Little G went nuts! The house was utter chaos on Christmas morning with wrapping paper flying and electronic toys buzzing… This year was so exciting to finally watch Little G’s face light up when he realized Santa had visited in the night. I’ll never forget the look on his face when he looked up at his stocking stuffed with presents!
Though Jonathan helped put a few surprises and treats in my own stocking, it’s just not the same as it was when we were young… which is why I was unbelievably grateful for the Winter Revel Box to arrive with special little surprises just for me!!

The 2015 Winter Box was the very first Revel Box released and began as a prototype for friends and family. Over the last year Deanna has consistently curated the most delightful boxes filled with whimsical treasures from independent Etsy shops across the world. I couldn’t wait to see what Deanna picked out for her 2016 Winter Box! Naturally, I had to sneak a peek before Christmas to see what I could expect!
I love the little note on the shiny polkadot tissue paper!
First peek!
Here’s everything! Four little treasures that were carefully wrapped up — to be kept secret until Christmas Day. Life is SO hard sometimes…
100% Honest Truth: I waited until Christmas Day to open the packages!
The envelope contained a letter from Deanna describing the contents inside the box and her reasons for selecting each of the items. Additionally, there was a little note announcing that Revel Box is moving to a quarterly schedule for 2017! (Revel Box was originally available to purchase monthly.)
Night Owl Paper Goods 2017 Flora Fauna Desk Calendar | $15.00
Night Owl Paper Goods is definitely one of my favorite Etsy shops that Revel Box introduced to me in 2016. They create handmade letterpress stationery, enamel pins, and eco-chic real wood cards and gifts. This calendar was the spoiler item for the Winter Box!
All of these designs were created by the team at Night Owl Paper Goods. The prints and colors are just my style, with every month displaying a different print inspired by nature. If you missed this box and want to get your hand on one of these calendars for 2017, they’re still available in their Etsy shop for only $15!
The front page of the calendar states, “At the end of each month, flip the calendar page over and use the fun printed area for your doodles & to-dos.” The calendar itself is about the size of a CD case, so the cards are the perfect size for quick notes. Not only is the calendar beautiful, but it’s incredibly thoughtful and eco-friendly.
The plastic case also doubles as a stand! I have a similar desk calendar at work that I reference daily. It’s much smaller, about the size of a business card, and works well on my crowded desk in the office. Fortunately, I was in desperate need of a 2017 desk calendar for my home office! It looks amazing sitting on my desk and I love the larger font. Honestly I love it so much, I might end up purchasing another for my day job — if I can only figure out how to rearrange the piles of paperwork on my desk to fit it!
Fréya Art & Design Tea Towel “How To Make Pancakes” | £9.95
I’m a huge sucker for tea towels. This one is particularly fun with cute hand-drawn “instructions” for making pancakes on a robin’s egg blue background!
This is just darling! I can’t decide if I want to actually use it as a towel or frame it to display in our kitchen! Fréya Art & Design is a design studio based in London, England that creates beautifully crafted paper goods, textiles, and homewares. All of the designs are created by artist Fréya Eté. Each piece is meticulously designed and hand-crafted with care and respect to the environment. The Etsy shop is taking a short break currently, but you can explore more of their offerings through the design studio’s website (found HERE).
Becka Rahn Mini Weaving Loom Kit | $8.00
Becka Rahn is a very interesting and talented artist. She combines her love of traditional textile techniques with high-tech elements like laser cutting and digital fabric printing to produce some of the most fun and whimsical pieces I’ve seen on Etsy! (You can find her shop HERE.) Deanna wanted to incorporate a craft project in this year’s stocking stuffers and chose this DIY mini weaving loom kit for us to complete!
This tiny package contained everything needed to create a little weaving loom that can be displayed on its own or as an ornament or brooch. The only thing you need to provide is a pair of scissors and some craft glue, both of which I have in the house… somewhere… I have not had time to work on this project yet (the holidays were an absolute bear!) but I am looking forward to sitting down with this and creating a teensy loom to hang on our tree next year!
Hello Kitty Jelly Belly Jelly Beans 4.5 oz | $3.99
Yes!!! This treat combines two of my favorite things: jelly beans and the cutest kawaii cartoon kitty of all time!
The Hello Kitty blend has some of my favorite flavors too! Cotton Candy and Strawberry Cheesecake are super yummy. I knew it would be quite difficult to hide them from Little G at the house, so I already tucked them away in my computer bag to take to work with me tomorrow. Hey, this mama needs her sweets too!
Final Thoughts
Deanna really wowed me once again with what I feel is the perfect collection of stocking stuffers for the adult woman! Honestly, I cannot even choose a favorite item as each one is quite different yet all are extremely bright and whimsical. The December 2016 Revel Box made me smile from ear to ear on Christmas morning. The total box value came in around $40.00 and truly felt like the most thoughtful gift from a cherished friend.
I highly recommend Revel Box to anyone who wants a bit of whimsy in their life and doesn’t mind being surprised with a brown paper package filled of handmade goodies every now and again. And remember, Revel Box announced that it was moving to a quarterly schedule, so you only need to set aside $14 a month (less than $0.50 a day) in order to treat yourself to this delightful box!

Oh my gosh!! I love subscription boxes! This is adorable! I maybe can put this in my budget. 😉 So want it. Thank you for sharing.
It has some nice things in it. I just think it is a little to expensive for what you get.
The tea towel is very cute.
What a great idea for a subscription box! I love anything handmade.
What a super cute idea! I have not heard of this before. Thanks for the review.
Seriously love it!! I love how personal she makes it!! So neat and so fun!!
Thanks for introducing me to a sub box that’s curated from Etsy. These are all very cute but I don’t think I’d order it. All of these things would just collect dust for me.
