December 2016 Glossybox Review
Glossybox is an online monthly beauty subscription box that sends you 5 or more travel size (and sometimes full size) beauty products each month from well known luxury brands and up-and-coming niche brands. You get to try out the best brands and new makeup products for a fraction of the full size cost. They also send the best hair products and skin care products for women.
You can subscribe to Glossybox for $21 each month with free shipping within the USA and receive your five great beauty products to enjoy. They also have a 6 month plan (same price as the monthly plan) and a 12 month plan. The 12 month plan brings the cost down to $18.50 per month.
The Homespun Chics paid for this subscription box. All opinions are 100% our own. This post contains affiliate links.
First peek! The December 2016 Glossybox contained 5 beauty products this month – two were cosmetics, two were skin care products, and one was a cosmetic tool. The box was a “glitzy design reminiscent of a disco ball” and the products were chosen to “embolden your holiday spirit and keep you party-ready well into January.”
Glossybox sends a monthly fold-out product information card but this month they did a large glossy sheet. They don’t curate to a titled monthly theme like some of the other subscription boxes. You don’t know what you will receive until the box arrives unless you see some spoilers on their website but the value is always there.
Kristals Cosmetics – Diamond Select Anti-Gravity Spark Eye Masks – 2 pair ($66.67)
How does a pair of eye masks made with pure diamond powder mixed with lavender oil and chamomile sound to you? It sounds expensive but alluringly interesting to me! Who thinks of these combinations?? These concentrated eye masks are designed to instantly moisturize and restore vibrancy, decreasing the appearance of wrinkles under the eyes.
“Skin virtually defies gravity when enhanced with the power of pure diamond as it lifts and firms while brightening and hydrating, building a cushion of density into time-thinned skin that helps erase the look of fine lines and wrinkles. Pure diamond powder also sloughs off old cells, making skin luminous by enabling youthful skin within to appear, reducing the appearance of sun damage.”
Luxie Beauty – Onyx Noir Small Tapered Blending Brush 231 ($16)
This is a 100% cruelty-free & vegan blending brush with soft synthetic bristles shaped to fit into the creases of your eyelid for precise blending of eyeshadow on the outer V. It will help you to define your eye look more precisely.
MDMflow – Semi-matte Lipstick in Bossy Full Size ($18)
This is a bold semi-matte brown-based nude color that reflects “street style and the 90s hip-hop aesthetic.” The lipstick has moisturizing properties and a high concentration of color.
Vichy Laboratories – Liftactive Supreme .51 oz sample size ($12.50)
This is an all-day moisturizer that also helps to mattify, blur, and illuminate your face. It claims to “visibly smooth deep wrinkles with 1 month of use.” Expensive but cheaper than a plastic surgeon! And if you didn’t drink your morning cup of coffee, not to worry – this cream contains caffeine plus adenosine. And it is safe for sensitive skin.
MeMeMe – Beat The Blues Skin Illuminator in Oyster Gold .3 oz sample size ($6.75)
This skin illuminator comes in the gold shade that I received and also in a pink shade, so you can choose the color that fits your skin tone the best. It contains pigments to reflect light so it adds radiant highlights to your face. Just dab it on your brow bones and the apples of your cheeks on top of your foundation. Or you can combine it with your foundation for an all-over glow. MeMeMe products are not tested on animals.
The retail value of the beauty items curated for the December 2016 Glossybox came to a whopping $119.92, mainly because those diamond eye masks are so hugely expensive. This subscription box is a great way to try out such a high-end beauty product – I don’t think I would ever feel rich enough to spend $400 on a box of 12 eye masks. I will rehome the lipstick but everything else in this box was perfect for me. I really look forward to my monthly Glossybox! Do a search on our blog to read the reviews from 2016 and see if this beauty sub box would be the one for you!
Oooh I love everything in this one!! I am such a cheapo when it comes to beauty products so this sounds like an amazing way for me to splurge a little 😉
I always want to try glossybox but I haven’t yet. May this year. Do you prefer it over other subscription boxes?
