Cooling Off with Pelican’s SnoBalls!
There is nothing better than a Pelican’s SnoBall on a hot summer day like today!
Have you tried a SnoBall before? It’s basically a combination of a snow cone and ice cream… and a cloud… all mixed into one delicious frozen snack. It has the consistency of real snow; soft, fluffy goodness is drenched in rich flavors that don’t immediately sink to the bottom of the cup. Absolutely every bite is enjoyable!
What I’m trying to say is, Pelican’s SnoBalls provides the perfect summer treat and everyone should try it at least once!
Warning: You will get addicted.
Born from a New Orleans tradition of combining smooth fluffy snow with bold flavors, Pelican’s SnoBalls has been serving over 100 fantastic flavors to it’s customers for almost 20 years! – Pelican’s SnoBalls
Gabe and I love to visit our local Pelican’s SnoBalls of Hendersonville for an afternoon pick-me-up. The bright, cheery blue building is plastered with vibrant signs and flavor menus! You place your order at the window on the right and within a couple minutes pick up your tasty SnoBall on the left!
As the menu states, there are over 100 flavors of shaved ice and as far as I can tell, they’re all amazing. As if that’s not enough, there are also limitless flavor combinations to mix and match plus specials created at each individual Pelican’s franchise.
And you just can’t beat the pricing! Gabe and I both got the kiddie sizes for only $2.50 each and they were the perfect size for an afternoon treat.
For the sake of this post, we visited our Hendersonville Pelican’s SnoBalls on two different days so we could try out a couple different “fancy” SnoBalls!
I asked the owner, Nekki Osteen, to create the prettiest, fanciest one for me and she chose the Unicorn SnoBall!
Nekki and her husband decided to open up a Pelican’s franchise in Hendersonville after getting a taste of these addictive frozen treats in Charlotte, where her nephew lives. They took the plunge and officially opened their doors in the fall of 2018!
Nekki loves being able to work with her whole family at this seasonal business. At any time, you could find her mom, husband, and two kids working, as well as Nekki’s 22-year old daughter hanging out in the stand! Nekki loves that her daughter, who has cerebral palsy, can hang out at work and be with the family.
This Unicorn SnoBall is *EVERYTHING*
My little Mario loved this flavor combination! This SnoBall includes two flavors: cotton candy (pink) and skylite (blue). I have no idea how to describe ‘skylite,’ and apparently neither does Pelican’s, but it is magnificent. To make it even more indulgent, the Unicorn SnoBall is topped with a swirl of whipped cream and the cutest pink and blue sprinkles.
In a different trip we tried out the Butterfly Kiss, which combines cotton candy (pink) with birthday cake (yellow) flavoring. This has become a favorite with Gabe. He says it’s like eating dessert, “but colder.” So cute!
Gabe was most excited about this GIANT butterfly gummy resting on top! (Holy moly, it was huge.)
Something I think is really neat about Pelican’s SnoBalls is their version of gift cards. These cute metal tokens, called Pelican Bucks, work like cash at the counter. Each Pelican Buck is equivalent to $1.00 and the best part is you can get 25 Pelican Bucks for just $20! That’s a 20% savings!
Pelican Bucks are also accepted at every franchise, regardless of where you purchased yours. Currently there are over 150 locations, but as you can see on the map, they’re primarily concentrated on the east coast.
I highly suggest some of you other states jump on this tasty bandwagon and start up some franchises! Give the people what they want!!
We love our Pelican’s SnoBalls of Hendersonville!
If you are ever in the area, please go check them out and grab a SnoBall for yourself! Nekki and her family are so sweet and their staff is the best! (Also doesn’t hurt that SnoBalls are out-of-this-world good.)

🙂 (And if so, what is YOUR favorite flavor combination!) 🙂
They have so many flavors! Super Hero and Pretty Princess sound like ones my grandchildren would love.
This looks like such a perfect and refreshing summer treat!
These sure do look good! I wish we had a Pelican’s location near me. I would probably visit every week if we did!
