Choceur 2018 Aldi Premium Advent Calendar Review
Choceur 2018 Aldi Premium Advent Calendar
While we missed out on scoring an Aldi wine Advent calendar this year (the last one in our store was being wheeled out the door as we walked in!), we spied Aldi’s chocolate calendars right up front and decided we couldn’t pass one up. Aldi has two sizes of their Choceur 2018 Advent calendars available for your holiday chocolate fix. The small one has solid chocolates and sells for $1.29 and the premium one has larger chocolate candies with vanilla crème filling for $4.99. Our calendar has a cheery Christmas scene with Santa handing out a gift in front of a gingerbread house surrounded by a snowman and lots of other friendly, happy creatures.
One fun aspect of the Choceur 2018 Aldi Premium Advent Calendar is that no two candies are the same. Every door hides not only a sweet, creamy treat but a surprise character for the day. The 1 1/2 inch tall chocolate candies are uniquely molded and unwrapped, with animals like a cat, dog, turtle, and hippo, objects like a trumpet, star, and train, and holiday figures like an angel and toy soldier.
I wondered how the candy would taste. Even though they are so very cute and well designed, I was afraid it was all for show. I was really pleased that the milk chocolate was very sweet, smooth, and melted in my mouth. The delicious vanilla crème filling is a buttery enhancement to the candies. The candies are a product of Germany and Choceur uses UTZ certified chocolate which means the cocoa came from a farm that followed UTZ sustainability standards.
The back of the box has a line drawn replica of box front scene for children (or adults – why not?) to color.
Overall I was very pleased with this inexpensive Choceur 2018 Premium Chocolate Advent calendar. The design of the candies was so well done and the quality of the milk chocolates was right up there with some of the best European chocolate confections I have tasted. This is an Advent calendar that would delight children as well as adults!
My granddaughters would love to have this.
