What’s better than receiving a very large, great smelling candle? Receiving one with money hidden inside, of course! I adore candles and was SO excited to finally see what all the fuss is about with these hidden surprise candles. Jewelry is wonderful to receive, but discovering a small package of real money buried inside a candle is way too cool to pass up!

My candle was delivered completely protected by large bubble wrap inside a standard shipping box filled with packing peanuts.

The glass candle jar arrived intact and ridiculously secured in all of its packaging. Awesome!

All Cash Money Candles are made with 100% soy wax, are double-wicked and use premium quality fragrances. There are currently 22 different scents in the collection, from Pumpkin Spice to Autumn Leaves. There is something for everyone! I received the Birthday Cake scent and could smell its yumminess as soon as I opened the box. This candle smells exactly like a sweet buttercream frosting!

Did I mention how huge it is? The candle weighs in at 21 ounces and measures about 7 inches tall! I was really pleased to see the two wicks, as larger candles tend to tunnel without an even distribution of heat.

Two hours into lighting the candle and we’re making progress! The melted wax was a bright pinkish red color. The scent was more subtle than candles I’ve purchased in the past, but that really isn’t a bad thing. I do not like my candles to be ridiculously potent.

Ten hours total! We had to blow out the candle after a few hours the night before and then relit it in the morning. This photo was taken after about six hours on day two; the scent filled most of our downstairs with a light aroma which had us seriously craving cupcakes. We could finally see the tin foil package hidden behind the label!

21 total hours of burning this candle down allowed me a chance to pull out my prize! This candle burned all day and into the night on day two. I only had one instance where one of the wicks went out because it curled into the melted wax. We let it cool for about fifteen minutes, trimmed the wick, and relit. The candle burns very evenly with a nice 1/4″ pool of wax at any given time.

Seeing as how I have never tried a hidden surprise candle before, of course I googled what the heck to do and discovered several people were using tweezers (or pliers) to extract the packet. After blowing out the candle, I gently moved the tin foil package away from the glass, which was adhered in place with what looked like a little glue dot. After a few wiggles and lots of wax sploshing up on the glass and wicks, I finally got the little packet out!

Hindsight, I probably should have let the wax burn down even further for an easier retrieval process! Patience is a virtue that must always be tested… right?

Here’s the packet stretched out. I like how the cash is protected in foil. The soy wax is very greasy so I decided to run the foil under hot water and use a little soap to wash off some of the wax before unfolding. It worked for me, but is probably not a necessary step. I made sure to lay down some paper towels to help protect my desk from any stray wax droplets.

Oh yay! My cash was further protected using a little zippy plastic baggy! Clever! I could tell pretty quickly that I was not going to get a ka-jillion dollars judging by the thinness of the package.

I received a genuine $2.00 bill! This is the smallest prize that can be found inside Cash Money Candles, but it is super unique and fun! Little G has been receiving an allowance of sorts for potty training. We’ve been giving him some money for spending and some for saving. This $2.00 bill is going into his savings the next time he goes #2 in the potty (hehehe, get it?)

I really enjoyed this candle! It definitely took a lot of patience to wait for the candle to burn down, but the candle itself is very high quality and had the best “creamy” scent I’ve smelled! After I removed the cash, we still had almost half a candle left in the jar to enjoy! Super awesome.

Extracting the prize was a little trickier than it probably should have been due to the fact that I pulled it out before the wax was completely melted under the packet, but nevertheless the process was quite fun! I loved not knowing what would be inside the foil package; now I have a much greater appreciation for Little G’s obsession with surprise eggs and blind bags (thanks Kid’s YouTube). 

Cash Money Candles would make GREAT gifts for friends, family and even coworkers! There are plenty of scents that are perfect for the holidays, like Fluffy Snowflakes, Christmas Memories, and Warm Apple Cider. Oh my gosh! This would be so much fun to give as a Secret Santa gift!! Yaaasss!
