Bojerky Subscription Box Review January 2016
Bojerky is a monthly subscription box that sends you bags of premium beef jerky. They claim the buy “the coolest indie jerky” from all around the USA.
Shipping is free in the USA and they have several different price tiers, all of which have discounts for multiple month subscriptions.
The cost runs:
$9.99/mo for one package of beef jerky (different flavors each month), weighing from 2.5 to 5 oz.
$21.00/month for at least 2 packages of beef jerky (different flavors each month), weighing 5-7.5 oz.
$37.00/mo for at least 4 packages of beef jerky (different flavors each month), weighing 10-15 oz.
I received 2 packages of jerky in my January 2016 box. The total weight was 4 oz. There was no information sheet about the products or background information given about the makers of the jerky.
Fatman’s Beef Jerky – Honey Barbeque
This is made from 100% American beef and the company is out of New Mexico. The flavor is delicate, slightly sweet and not too salty.
Fatman’s Beef Jerky – Lemon Pepper
Also made from 100% American beef, this jerky is a bit more flavorful, though the taste is still quite mild, and a just bit saltier.
I thought this month’s picks were more to my taste than the spicy ones from last month. On a taste scale from 1 – 10, with 1 being extremely bland and 10 being too hot to eat, I would give the January jerky a 2 and the December jerky a 12. Something more in the 4 or 5 range would be best and I haven’t received that yet from Bojerky. I liked that the January jerky was made from American beef but one problem I found was that both had high fructose corn syrup in their flavoring. I do try to avoid that ingredient and probably would not purchase this jerky if I saw it in the store for that reason alone. I also would love to see this company provide an information sheet about the products and their maker(s).
The Homespun Chics paid for this subscription. All opinions are 100% our own.
I like trying different flavors of jerky. This would be fun.
These sound really good. I’ve never had Lemon Pepper jerky before. It sounds good though!
