Birchbox Subscription Box Review February 2016
Birchbox is a monthly subscription box that contains five beauty samples curated for different categories, including skin, hair, makeup and fragrance. You complete a Beauty Profile when you create your customer account to help them choose what to include in your box. For $10 each month or $110 for an annual subscription, this thrifty little box lets you try new beauty products for a very low cost and always meets or exceeds the value paid.
They include a product information card that gives you the description and cost of each item, a feature that I always appreciate in a subscription box!
Beauty Protector Protect & Detangle Leave in Conditioner sample size approx. 2 oz ($21.95 for 8 oz)
This is a really good smelling leave in conditioner! It is for daily use and for all hair types, detangles, smooths, seals cuticles, locks in color, adds shine and protects against UV rays. That is a lot of multitasking for one little bottle of conditioner! I have very fine, brittle hair and in the winter it is even worse. I mean my hair wants to look like Albert Einstein’s hair in his worst photo! This conditioner made it easy to comb out after a wash and my hair looked sleek and shiny all day. I think it would be an asset to anyone’s hair care routine.
Benefit Cosmetics They’re Real! Mascara sample size 0.1 oz ($24 for 0.3 oz)
This is a lengthening and volumizing mascara that also curls, lifts and separates lashes with its specially designed brush that features staggered bristles that grab close to the root. This mascara won’t smudge, clump or dry out!
Burt’s Bees Tinted Lip Balm in Hibiscus Full Size ($7)
I love this stuff! I keep several tubes of it in my purse at all times and wear it constantly. This lip balm keeps my lips soft and free from chapping and cracking while giving my face some color without the formality of a solid color lipstick.
Naobay Oxygenating Cream Moisturizer sample size 1 oz/30 ml ($16 for 50 ml)
This is an eco-conscious extra-nourishing moisturizer that has a light, delicate scent. With avocado and olive oils from organic farming providing fatty acids to give anti-aging benefits, this cream is specially designed to give special attention to dry and dehydrated skin. It nourishes, moisturizes and provides elasticity throughout your day. It makes my face feel smooth and soft. And I need all the help I can get, especially during the dry winter months!
Not Soap, Radio Bath/Shower Gel Liquid Freud sample size 1.1 oz ($16 for 13.61 oz)
“When you need to turn up the volume on your inner voice of reason” is the description of this coconut milk, mango and vanilla Emotional Well-Being body wash. Yes, it smells wonderful! I can’t say that it cured all of my phobias or erased all of my issues, but a nice hot shower with a luscious smelling gel infused with St. John’s Wort can’t help but lift my mood and make me feel just good all over!!
I enjoyed each item in this month’s Birchbox and can’t wait until I receive the March one! Each item was great for me at this time of year and the value exceeded the $10 price. The only full size item was the Burt’s Bees, but that was $7 and a rough calculation of the value of the remaining items came to a little over $24. So that is a wonderful value for the price and I am pleased!

I haven’t tried Birchbox, but I was recently talking to my girlfriend about it. She loves this box. I’ve been using Julep for several months but have been looking for a less expensive subscription. Thanks for the review!
This is a great box to try out new beauty products!
