BarkBox Monthly Subscription Box December 2015 Review
BarkBox is a monthly subscription box for dogs. The pricing depends on the length of the subscription, with the best deal being a12 month subscription plan at $19/mo and the most expensive a month to month plan at $29/mo. They customize your box for your dogs’ sizes:
Small and Cute (0-20 pounds)
Just Right (20-50 pounds)
Big and Bold (50+ pounds)
And they have special allergy-friendly boxes for dogs with allergies to beef, chicken and turkey.
I had a line of dogs following me as I moved the box to the table to open it and we all had to have a little talk about how I needed to be the one to look inside! This December BarkBox had 2 toys, 3 treats and a treat tin. Not much doggie interest in the tin but everything else caused total border collie focus! There was also a fold out Seasons Greetings card with information on the dogs of BarkBox. I wish they still included product information on their card, but now you have to go to their BarkShop to get this.
Treat Tin ($4)
This is a cute blue, white and red treat tin with a see through round hole in the bottom half so you can see if you are getting low on the goodies. It is a nice size for traveling and the dogs can’t chew through it if their travel bag ends up in the back seat with them.
Dogzilla Penguin Egg ($17)
This is a hollow football shaped dog toy to fill with treats, smear with peanut butter or just use as a pull toy. It looks very durable and, from the way my dogs are acting, must smell just wonderful!
Pixel the Penguin chew toy ($12)
This chew toy has a tennis ball head, rope body, super sturdy fabric and 4 squeakers. Unfortunately, it was a 2 minute toy for my Rocket. He chewed through the top, tore out the tennis ball and chewed through it, then started eating the fabric before I even turned back to see what he was doing.
Grandma Bowser’s Country Oven Bisquits Fido Friendly Fruitcake 4 oz ($6)
These treats are “Like a Granola Bar for Dogs.” Wheat free, corn free, soy free and all natural with no preservatives, they sound good enough for me to eat.
Caru Duck Recipe Baked Bites 4 oz ($9)
These small-batch prepared treats are made with real duck, blueberries and cranberries and contain no wheat, gluten, corn, soy or by-products.
Etta Says Savory Yumm Sticks ($3)
This is a pork stick, made in USA, that is big enough for my boys to share.
This month’s total price for the individual items in the box came to $51, though the Penguin toy ($12) was a complete waste. If you leave that out, it was still a good value. I haven’t let them play with the egg toy yet but we have several balls made from that same material and it is sturdy and long lasting. I can use that treat tin and of course they will love all the treats. There was fortunately no hidden chicken (Rocket’s allergy) in any of the treats this month, so they must have looked more closely at the ingredients list. They did send me an extra bag of peanut butter treats separately last month, after the November box arrived, so possibly they realized their mistake. I am still quite pleased with the BarkBox and the boys agree. They told me so!
The Homespun Chics paid for this subscription. All opinions are 100% our own.
That’s a nice bunch of stuff for your dogs. No dog in my house.
Since I have a dog I also have a PetTreater subscription, thanks for this review
