April 2017 My Texas Market Box Review
My Texas Market is a monthly subscription box that sends you 4-6 carefully selected products from Texas farmers’ markets and local businesses. The small-batch artisan items fit a monthly theme and could be anything from foods, snacks, teas, candles, beauty products, crafts or any other thing you might find in a Texas farmers’ market.
Their purpose is to expose customers to new products and companies while supporting local artisan businesses. 10% of all profits are donated to the Houston Food Bank.
Subscription costs are:
1 month – $35
3 months – $100
6 months – $195
Subscription prices do not include shipping or any applicable taxes. They do promise that the value of each box will be at least $35 -$40 but to not expect that they will send a hugely underpriced box of items. You can cancel at any time or just skip a month if you wish. And if you want to purchase more of something or add to your box, they have an online market with lots of things to choose from.

The theme of the April 2017 My Texas Market box is
Blackberries & Bluebonnets
My Texas Market always sends a great product information card. They give helpful information on each product and you can learn all about the local Texas companies that produce each one.
Kuhdoo Soap Company – Bluebonnet Soap ($7)
“Natural Handcrafted Soap made with love and ingredients you can pronounce in Austin, Texas.” No chemicals to absorb into your skin and the ingredients are locally sourced organic goats milk, shea butter, avocado oil and coconut oil plus raw honey and oatmeal. And it smells like wonderful Texas Bluebonnets!
Jammit Jam – Blackberry Star Anise Merlot Whole Fruit Jam 8 oz ($8)
This is a delicious whole fruit jam spread made with seedless blackberres, pure cane sugar, merlot wine and star anise powder. Delicious over cheese blintzes and scones, paired with Gruyere, any smoked cheese, and Stilton Blue, used as a sauce for pork or game, or as a dessert sauce over almond cake and pairs well with caramel.
Texas Hill Country Olive Co. – Blackberry Balsamic Vinegar 100 ml ($6)
This is a great tasting vinegar made by infusing Texas blackberries with balsamic from Modena, Italy. The company has the only certified organic orchard in the state and even offers tours. The April 2016 box had this same vinegar and I am so excited to find it again in the spring box! The taste is amazing over a green salad with toasted walnuts and goat cheese!
Nature Favors – Texas Bluebonnet Garden Kit ($2.95)
How cute is this? This little brown paper box and raffia tie contained a little plastic pot and a Texas shaped soil puck embedded with bluebonnet flower seeds. You just add water and the seeds sprout from “deep within the heart of Texas.” This company specializes in eco-friendly favors for all kinds of occasions – a Texas wedding would be perfect for this little garden kit!
Luna Tigre – Bluebonnet Travel Tin Candle 6 oz ($8)
This 100% soy candle has a paper wick and reusable container with a 15 – 18 hour burn time. Luna Tigre uses the highest quality fragrance oils and hand pours them in very small batches in Austin. The Bluebonnet candle has a strong floral fragrance and makes the room smell like spring!
The value of the items in this sweet spring box comes to $31.95. The curation fits the theme perfectly and the April 2017 My Texas Market box is truly like a springtime visit to a Texas farmers’ market! I love everything inside, but especially the candle, Blackberry Balsamic vinegar, and the soap.
