April 2016 Taste Trunk Review
Taste Trunk is a monthly subscription box for gourmet foods. They have a selection of trunks (boxes) you can choose from – Gourmet, Healthy Chef, Sweet or BBQ – or you can create a unique trunk for yourself. They also have trunks available for single purchases. You will receive 4-6 premium gourmet products. Right now they have a great Mother’s Day box available. And I know moms love to eat!
Cost of a subscription is $39/month with free shipping.
The Homespun Chics paid for this subscription box. All opinions are 100% our own. This post contains affiliate links.
I love gourmet foodie subscription boxes and the April 2016 Taste Trunk box surely fits into that category. The presentation was beautiful and once I opened the wrappings I was glad to see that each item was packaged well and nothing was broken. There was no product information sheet or any other paperwork included in my box. I had read that they included one and also sometimes recipe cards, but apparently they have discontinued this nice little touch in the month to month subscriptions or only include it in the one time purchases.
There were 5 full size items in my April 2016 Taste Trunk box and each was a nice gourmet treat to get us started off on our summer cooking!
Napa Valley Vinegar Co. – Blood Orange Vinegar 8.2 oz ($9.99)
This is made in Napa and the main ingredients are white wine vinegar and blood orange concentrate. It is a lovely orange color and has a recipe for a vinaigrette right on the back of the bottle. I am looking forward to using this in a summer salad or as a great reduction for some fish.
Napa Jack’s – Cabernet & Roasted Garlic Marinade 10.1 oz ($8.80)
All natural, gluten free and vegetarian, you can use this marinade for all kinds of meats or veggies before grilling. Plus it would be a great sauce for a slow cooker recipe. It’s a blend of cabernet vinegar, EVOO, roasted garlic and other spices – I just might drink it right out of the bottle!
Vermont Maple Grill – Dry Glaze Grilling & Roasting Blend 2 oz ($5.99)
This is a dry rub for beef, pork or chicken, small batch crafted and gluten free. The main flavor notes are maple and bits of smoky, spicy sage with a resulting sweet and savory homestyle flavor. It goes on dry and turns to a glaze in 30 minutes. Time to get out the grill!!
Cucina & Amore – Bruschetta Artichoke 7.9 oz ($7.99)
This is an artichoke bruschetta appetizer or snack prepared with all natural, non-gmo ingredients. The artichoke hearts and onions are chopped into tiny pieces and mixed with sunflower oil, vinegar and seasonings. You can put it on small pieces of bread or crackers or use it as a dip or a sauce.
Seattle Chocolates – Total Toffee Milk Chocolate Truffle Bar 2.5 oz ($4.99)
This is a lovely milk chocolate bar loaded with traditional English style hard toffee bits and a hint of sea salt! Oh My Gosh!! And they use Rainforest Alliance Certified cocoa!
The value of the contents in the April 2016 Taste Trunk box was higher this month than the box we review in March. Total cost of the items curated for April came to $37.76, a lot closer to the cost of the box but still a little under value. I liked that the food items were generally very useful to get us started on our seasonal cooking, especially since we are shortly heading down to FL and are looking forward to using our grill out on the back deck in the evenings. Bring it on, summer!!
Omgosh what an amazing box to get in spring!! Perfect to get grilling!! Im pretty jealous!!! 😉 That blood orange vinegar sounds super amazing!!
This would make a great gift box. I can’t wait to do some grilling and BBQ this summer!
That’s a great box of yummies. I want to try the Cabernet & Roasted Garlic Marinade.
Everything looks high quality and delicious. Thanks for sharing!
This is a super duper subscription box! If someone sent that to me, I’d be giddy! I want to look into this, it would make a perfect gift for the foodies in my life!
The Seattle Chocolates – Total Toffee Milk Chocolate Truffle Bar sounds absolutely delicious! Great box!
I think you had me at “gourmet foods.” To get this subscription box would be… a decadent treat! The blood orange vinegar looks amazing, as does the Bruschetta Artichoke. Thank you for the review!
