April 2016 Eat Feed Love Taste Club Box
The Taste Club from Eat Feed Love, based in Vancouver, Canada, is a monthly subscription box full of gourmet foods to tempt your taste buds and expand your foodie reach. Each month’s box comes with a different theme and the foods are curated to that theme, along with recipe cards featuring those new ingredients. The cost is $39.99/month and the best deal is $225 for a six month subscription which is $37.50/month.
Every month the company shares proceeds from sales with a worthy charity and the April charity was the Stop Hunger Now, a charity that has provided over 225 million meals to children and their families in over 73 countries since 1998. A letter included in your box tells you about the charity and what to expect in your box.
The April 2016 Eat Feed Love box theme was “Spring it On” so the foods in the box were curated to inspire you to eat and drink outside as the weather gets warmer and to maybe invite friends over for a Sunday Funday Backyard Brunch. As always, each item was carefully wrapped and padded. I have never had a broken item come out of one of their boxes and I can always feel the care and attention given to preparing each box for shipping. We love unwrapping each item to see what is inside – it’s like getting a box of food gifts every month!

There is no product information card with the Eat Feed Love Taste Club box but most of the items sent can be found on the company’s website. They did include 8 recipe cards to give you ideas and directions about using the ingredients to create a great spring brunch. And boy did they look like yummy recipes, too! I will add them to the lovely wooden recipe box they sent a few months ago and consider them when I am doing my weekly meal planning.
8 Recipe Cards ($5)
- Grilled Artichoke with Garlic Butter
- Bacon Lemon Herb Aioli
- Salmon Cakes with Bacon Lemon Herb Aioli
- Spring Pasta Salad
- Fried Egg BLT with Bacon Mayo
- Deviled Eggs with Bacon
- Lemon Mint Yogurt Pops
- Southside Cocktail
Baia Pasta – Durum Wheat Bow-Macs 8 oz ($4)
Just what you need to make that spring pasta salad. Plus quite a few other pasta dishes – the list is just about endless! They are made from organic whole wheat durum flour that comes mostly from the Rocky Mountains.
Empire Mayonnaise Co. – Bacon 4 oz ($9)
This is handmade in Brooklyn, NYC, and is all natural, non-GMO. They even use cage-free eggs. I just might die a little when I eat this!
Starlight Herb & Spice Co. – Dill Weed .45 oz ($8)
This herb is premium quality and just what you need to season fish and many veggies. A must for your salmon or tuna cakes.
Italian Harvest – Salina Capers 3.17 oz ($9)
These tangy little jewels were hand picked from volcanic soil on Salina Island in Sicily. They are great in pasta dishes or to make little eyes on your Easter baby chicken deviled eggs. I also use them in tuna salad to spice things up a bit.
Salty Road Salt Water Taffy – Sea Salt Caramel 3.5 oz ($8)
This is another Brooklyn-made treat! “Salty, sweet, bitter & chewy with hints of burnt sugar and our signature sea salt crunch.” THESE ARE SOOO GOOD!!
Element Shrub – Lemon Mint 2 oz (? $2)
This is a handcrafted herbal elixir made with apple cider vinegar, pure cane sugar, fresh lemon and organic spearmint. It is to be mixed with seltzer water or a liquor like gin for a refreshing cold drink. You can also use it as a base for a vinegary salad dressing.
Total value for the items in the April 2016 Eat Feed Love Taste Club box comes to $45, just around the cost of the box. I will be using everything in it and trying out most of the recipes. Not sure about the shrub but I will give it a try and just might find a new favorite drink! This is a great box for anyone who loves to cook and to try new recipes. The ingredients are great gourmet products but not so weird or unusual that the average home cook doesn’t know what in the world to do with them!
The Sea Salt Caramel Salt Water Taffy sounds amazing! Tasty. 🙂
I like the dill and the shrub. Would make for yummy salads. And add the capers.
Cant wait to taste the bacon mayo and the sea salt caramels. Everything sounds healthy and good to eat. thanks
I wouldn’t know where to begin to choose from all the new food subscription boxes. They all sound so GOOD and packed with unique things that I know I could find a use for.
I’ve been out of blogging for many years but darn if I’m not tempted to try to start a foodie blog so I can take a tax deduction, if nothing else. lol
