April 2016 Alpha Outpost “The BBQ & Chill” Review
April 2016 Alpha Outpost Review
Alpha Outpost is a monthly lifestyle subscription box for men curated around a different theme each month. Each box “provides the tools and supplies you need to take any situation by the jugular” and is guaranteed to be valued at least twice as high as the purchase price. Alpha Outpost is owned and operated by U.S. military veterans. Their boxes prepare you for a different situation each month, from roadside emergencies to surviving in the wilderness to becoming a dapper gentleman. This is not a tactical box geared for military vets, but instead is designed to be a lifestyle box for anyone wanting to be prepared for anything that comes their way.
The Costs: Starting at $39.95 per month + $6.95 s/h
(cheaper for multi-month subscriptions)

The April 2016 Alpha Outpost box is titled “The BBQ & Chill” and comes with everything you might need for your BBQ except the grill, the meat, and maybe the beer! Their timing is perfect for our anticipation of getting outside and firing up the grill in the lovely spring weather! I don’t know about you, but this is what we all have been waiting for at my house…for what seems like Forever! So pop open your drink, pull up a chair and read all about the goodies in this packed full box of barbeque joy!
“Outdoor grilling is a manly pursuit that has long been beyond question.” – Alpha Outpost
The April 2016 Alpha Outpost box was full to the brim with BBQ goodies and, in perfect Alpha Outpost style, they have provided a packing list, a product information list and a whole booklet brimming with easy to follow instructions on having a successful barbeque.
Alpha Outpost BBQ & Chill Grill Manual by the Award Winning BBQ Expert Johnny Van is 14 pages full of “The Alpha’s Steps to Grilling Perfection.” Everything you need to know to get that grill going and cook your dinner, including drink pairings for your beer, wine and liquor. Plus there are some really delicious-sounding recipes in there!
Digital Folding Meat Thermometer ($12) and AAA Battery ($.50)
Use this to be sure you don’t overcook that steak or undercook that chicken! And the battery is included so you can start using it right away, no waiting till you find time for a trip to the store to get the battery.
Alpha Outpost Bear Claws ($6.95)
These handy little gadgets are a multi-use tool at my house. They were made to pull your meat apart prior to putting on the BBQ sauce when you are doing a pulled pork kind of dinner, but they work equally as well to serve your salad (or your pasta!!)
Alpha Outpost Heat Resistant Grill Gloves ($10)
You don’t want to have to break out “The Medic” kit from a few months ago so use these to keep your hands safe from that heat. They aren’t just for the grill, either!
Alpha Outpost Silicone Basting Brush ($3.95)
This is a wonderful basting brush for saucing your meat. And it’s silicone so it can handle higher temps than one of those natural bristle brushes. The bristles won’t clump or frizz. Just don’t put directly in the fire.
Alpha Outpost Beer Coozie X4 ($4)
Beer coozies. Four of them. And you could use them for soft drinks or juice, too…
Smokin’ Hot Rub 3.5 oz ($6)
Smokin’ Good Rub 5.5 oz ($9)
Island Thyme Rub 2.75 oz ($6)
Three different BBQ rubs for different meats. There are all kinds of ways to use these spice blends, so get creative and try them with all kinds of meats plus veggies, too.
Alpha Outpost Ceramic Santoku Knife ($25)
This is a sharp knife styled and shaped sort of like a narrow-bladed cleaver with a very sharp edge and is the best knife for cutting the beef. It worked very well on our steak and made cutting chicken very easy.
Alpha Outpost Ceramic Utility Knife ($15)
The knife for everything else! Sharp and efficient!
Alpha Outpost Peeler ($5)
This is for anything you need peeled while you are waiting for the meat to get seared.
Alpha Outpost Carpenter Bottle Opener ($6.95)
A very cool bottle opener and it works on beer tabs, too!
Bullet Ice Tray ($5)
You might have something that needs ice at your barbeque…bring out these ammunition-shaped cubes for your guests to keep things cold!
We took turns using the April 2016 Alpha Outpost “The BBQ & Chill” box between our Homespun Chics homes and it was a huge success! Sarah’s Jonathan grilled chicken on their gas grill and my hubby grilled a steak on our charcoal grill – both were delicious and we had great fun using all the new tools and following the directions in the grilling booklet. Alpha Outpost has THE most incredible subscription boxes! The value of the contents – this month at $115.35 – greatly exceed the price paid for the box every single month!

Whoa! That’s an awesome bunch of things for BBQing. I like the dos & don’ts: Don’t worry so much.
Holy cow!! This is really fully loaded!! What an amazing fathers day gift this would make!!
These seasonings look awesome! Especially with Summer BBQ weather coming up. Great!
Great that it came with knives and a bottle opener, too. A good variety in a nice set. That bottle opener is really different.
